Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but couldn't find it anywhere...

I was wondering if any knows how many games and goals Michael Tuck kicked for Hawthorn Reserves and in what years he played reserves.

Dipper played 99, Tuck 50.
Can you imagine if those 2 cracked the sads and wanted game time elsewhere?

Thankfully, they weren't dependent on the money, but it's a thought to ponder.

Superstar that he is, is Tucky still grafting it out as a plumber? Was until at least couple of years ago I hear.

They only played him in that game to make sure he was tied to the club under the rules of the time.

Hey, mate, you're a Geelong supporter and you're posting informative and interesting stuff.
And no sarcasm.

Why is this so?

Different generation. Sure, we had players transferring from club to club, but generally the intention of players was to play their whole career at one club. Pretty much the Schoenmakers attitude where he wouldn't feel as if he made it unless it was with Hawthorn.

These days, society as well as football has developed a "me" generation where players feel the game not only owes them a game, but a living.

Was more thinking what a loss to the club they would have been. Tucky is my favourite ever Hawk, and Dipper was as much a face of the Hawks as the VFL/ AFL in the late 80's, early 90's. Certainly north of the border, after the Brownlow, and withe the success we had.

Just hard to imagine a Hawthorn without them.

Yep, Mick is still on the tools, not much money in football in those days.

Dipper played his first game against Fitzroy at Junction Oval, 2 August 1975, and didn't play league again until 1978.

Lou Richards referred to him as the wog with the long name; said he couldn't pronounce his name.

From memory Tuck played a lot of games at full forward, and kicked a few too.
