I'm all for freedom of speech, having differing opinions, debating topics and so on, but this incident with Vossy has made me think deeply about behavioural standards which we should all demand, adhere to and call out when its not acceptable. On this forum, we all have one thing in common, support and love for the Carlton Football Club, the entire club and all its people, human beings with feelings and emotions. Not suggesting anyone here has said anything that needs calling out, just wanting to put the message out there to think deeply before you type. We are all hurting, so are Vossy and most of the people at the Club so lets continue to be mindful with our comments and be better than the imbecile who made the unsavoury comments towards one of our own.
Go Blues.

No more negative comments from me, who ever that campaigner was I don't in any way to give that excreta any form of support. It's footy ffs. No more negative nellie here.
Also bet that some here won't alter their entitled ways, and you know who you are....

Before the first Collingwood game in 2022 the 'welcome to country' included a desperate plea for the home fans to remember where they were and the example they were setting for their children.

At the time we had a good laugh and rightfully looked down on the Collingwood ferals for warranting such a request - sad that this is how the rest of the comp will now (again rightfully) be viewing us.

It's just football. And as far as we know Vossy is a very good human being, and not to mention a champion of the game.

There's no room for that kind of behavior. The scumbag responsible should be outed and charged to the full extent of the law.

They haven't given him any support. Even with the threats that came in, the higher aboves are silent. Hes the coach but hes not the club.

On this one issue that happened yesterday? Fine. I thought you were suggesting the whole time.

The whole club has been copping it though. Perhaps the board feel they will only exacerbate matters?

Nobody here is questioning Voss the human. Apparently the person who sent the threat wasn't a Carlton member and the police have advised it's not a criminal offence. This doesn't justify the behaviour of one idiot.
We're all frustrated at the teams performances and questioning Voss
"as the coach" and if he has what it takes to bring us success.

Which is fine. Death threats and general unnecessary scumbaggery towards him isn't.

Herald Sun reported the words referring to his "murder" and "23 missing persons".
If it's a legit threat, then of course it's not to be tolerated.

But has the message actually been released, or just vague references to "murder" and "23 missing persons"?
If it's the latter, someone could be facetiously referring to the players as the 23 missing persons, and their coach-killer effort being described as a murder.
Surely with this sort of reaction it's a proper threat, but are we sure it's not nanny-state overreaction?

Let’s aim this at the average CFC fan on here - nobody in particular.

I’d suggest listening to Voss’ comments today.

Let’s start with not mistaking our passion for the club, with anger towards it.

It’s a simple attitudinal change.

That simple personal adjustment can have amazing outcomes, personally & collectively.

As long time lover/supporter of CFC, I’m feeling the disappointment of our current position, like most others.

Lowering ourselves into the anger/hatred mire only makes it all worse, IMHO.
Spot on.

We basically have two ways we can support the club: with our money and with our energy. In some ways, bringing supportive, non-toxic energy is like buying a membership or merch or whatever. It might not seem like much individually, but collectively it all adds up and makes a difference.

Doesn't matter that every fan base has its share of idiots. Doesn't matter that some other sports have it worse. A less toxic environment is always better than a more toxic one, and that's something we can all contribute to.

Imagine if Carlton was known for having the least toxic fan base in the AFL. Doesn't mean there'd be no criticism or calls for change when warranted, just that we don't go about it in a toxic way. Would that help the club? I reckon it would.

"The AFL believes it has established the identity of the man who sent a threatening message directed at Carlton coach Michael Voss at the MCG on Friday night during the Blues’ loss to Collingwood."

"The league’s integrity unit believes that the man who made the alleged threat to Voss – via text message on the anti-social hotline at the MCG – did so from his own phone, according to two sources familiar with the investigation."

Come on be serious!! The police are involved, this isn’t a misquoted msg.

The msg contained “a brutal end to his life”

Sickening.

Horrible, Vossy is a strong man with a stronger character, a more fragile person who have fared a lot worse Im guessing.

I'd imagine this gutless imbecile would fill his shorts saying it to Bossy's face.

If that is true, then 100% throw the book at them.

These days though, with the sheer amount of “shocking”, “disturbing” utter BS clickbait, without seeing the actual message then i’ll keep my powder dry. It was mentioned here earlier that it was not a death threat, so which is it?

If it is actually a legit threat, we don’t need media talking heads crapping on about it. The police should be making a statement themselves.

They ban plebs in the outer for life.

But if it’s a well known (and connected) Blues supporter they’ll get an opportunity to apologise and donate to a charity . Then he is redeemed and suffers no ongoing consequences, in fact people will cheer his name.

Coz that’s how Melbourne works.

Unfortunately that’s how humans work.
