VETERAN Mick Martyn's career is under threat after the veteran full-back suffered yet another hamstring injury.

Martyn, who turns 33 next month, pulled up sore at training yesterday and will be sidelined for two matches.

The rugged defender has been plagued with hamstring problems all season and has managed only nine games.

Coach Denis Pagan said last night Martyn's recurring injuries were a concern, especially after he had ''trained brilliantly''.

''He trained like Verdun Howell but pulled up sore today. It is only minor, a grade one tear. He will miss two weeks,'' he said.

Martyn is an icon at the Kangaroos, having played 266 games in 14 seasons.

But not only is he regularly missing games, it takes him a game or two to regain touch when he returns.

He is believed to be keen to play on next season.

The Kangaroos have also lost vice-captain Anthony Stevens (knee reconstruction) for the rest of the season.

Dual premiership players Glenn Archer (shoulder) and Adam Simpson (back/hamstring) return for Sunday's needle game against the Bombers at the MCG.
