Weckert would have kicked goals for Port in the showdown.

He does have the core strength that he can stand up in a tackle. We are stuck with that high press game you need that.

I am warming up to him.

Need that nondescript half back flanker though.

In Woodville's loss to Centrals last weekend, Weckert had 5 touches and didn't trouble the scorers.

I wouldn't be counting on him to kick goals in a high pressure AFL game as a young player who has only started taking footy seriously.

Looks a bit of a one trick pony, but could develop.

How many games Narkle got since he moved to Port ? . He is always kicking 2-3 goals with magpies and 20 plus disposals but daddy egg head will never give him a chance .
24 posts and almost every one of them calling for Narkle in.

If Narkle is the answer you are asking the wrong question..

What role did we get Narkle to play?

Teakle was because we were short on rucks, McEntee we needed a small forward, Sutcliffe we wanted a shut down midfielder.

Narkle is an attacking midfielder who isn’t great defensively. He wasn’t going to be able to fill the small forward or wing roles. Maybe as the HFF role - but not sure we had the vacant spot for him.

So why take him only to sit him in the twos? And, if we did hope to make him a small forward, why play McEntee over him? Why not let Narkle develop his craft in the ones?

This season he's either been injured (as he is now) or he's being managed because of recovering from injury or surgery. He hasn't had a chance so far this year but it doesn't excuse his non-selection last year when he was fit.

SPP is a strong forward and like for like there are few like him anywhere.
There may be a player elsewhere who missed out on being drafted but has developed strongly over 2024.

Wonder if anyone ( not Port) has asked Scott Lycett if he feels like going around again?

We will pick the best key defender available and ask them to play high half forward.

Seriously though, unless there is some outstanding prospect, it should be for an area we need more depth.

Has Will Snelling been mentioned yet? His season so far:

• 24 touches & 9 tackles at The Parade,

• 38 touches, 10 marks & 11 tackles at Noarlunga,

• 26 touches, 6 tackles & a goal at Prospect,

• 33 touches & 17 tackles at the Bay,

• 38 touches, 7 tackles & a goal versus WWT,

• 22 touches, 17 tackles & a goal at the Ponderosa,

Essendon board are saying he's just lost that bit of pace he needed. They'd have him back.

Would like a midfielder that has the ability to go forward.

Our SANFL midfield is empty, major mid minutes for the taking there, and with SPP out, if called up, there is an opportunity to play forward at AFL level.
Like McIntee, Narkle, Mead, SPP.

I don’t care how competitive our twos are, we have 3 AFL standard Ruckmen, I would be looking for another Ruckman in the 20-24 year age bracket. Teach him to play CHB/CHF.

We have plenty of Half Backs, plenty of Half Forwards, pretty good depth as Mids in Jackson and Mead, Lorenz tracking well. More Flanker/Mids to come in via Father son this year. Let’s have a look at another 6’8 bloke in an elite environment for a couple of months.

Oscar Adams (199cm, 87kg) 20 year old SA boy delisted by St Kilda had 1 off-field incident (driving under influence of alcohol) whilst with the Saints.

Pick 51 in the 2021 draft

Drafted as a Key Defender for the Saints but now playing with Glenelg as a Key Forward with ruck duties in the forward half.
Worth a punt for the remaining 4 months of the season to determine any potential development.

I don't trust St Kilda's development program to say he's a dud straight up.

His off-field incident shouldn't deter us from looking into him.

How are we going to fit a CHB with McKenzie, Clurey, Walsh, Kyle Marshall and McCallum in the side?

When Soldo gets back, the SANFL side will have Sweet in the ruck with Scully, Lord and Visentini up forward.

There is no room for another tall.
