Hagan? Who was the kid at the Maggie’s last year?

That's him but not quick enough and can't kick over a jam jar. He would just be another F Evans/McEntee.

ESPN _ "
Pick 14: Port Adelaide

The Power interviewed Caleb Ernst last week, and with Sam Powell-Pepper's vacant list spot could recruit the Coburg forward who plays with similar power and aggression. Smartt comes into consideration at this point, as does SANFL rookie Logan Evans who has impressed rebounding out of defence for their reserves.

Luke Beecken is another SANFL defender who's attracted ample interest and projects well with his dare and ability to accumulate."

Assuming it’s the same guy

I flicked through the nominees a couple of days ago. I didnt see will snelling's name.

Beecken seems like a decent pick. The mid season draft is probably a good low cost place to get a half back flank.

Oskar Smartt also linked in that article (both Ernst and Smartt are also linked with clubs with earlier picks than Port)

Smartt draft profile

An eye-catcher with plenty of razzle dazzle, Oskar Smartt made waves with his high-flying antics and powerful bursts inside 50. Able to play both as a forward and in midfield, Smart is a strongly built 180cm talent who does have the license to show off plenty of his flair. In terms of his foundational aspects, Smartt can tidy up his decision making at times, and is often in a rush or trying to move the ball on too quickly.

His production is also lower than where it could be, but his combination of strength and athleticism helps him have an impact on the game in stints. His forward craft helps him also influence the games, and though he needs to do it more consistently, his form throughout the season - which included two games at the national carnival - was enough to earn a State Draft Combine invite.

Scouting notes.

Reads as SPP type.

Caleb Ernst

"Often a strong presence for the Pioneers, Ernst again proved as much as he built into Sunday’s contest. The top-ager showcased his ability to not only stand up in tackles, but also power out and get his side moving forward. He provided good intent defensively with hard tackles, and presented up to half-forward as a marking option before also being utilised at the centre bounces. Ernst fared well in terms of scoreboard impact too, booting three goals in the final quarter with terrific marking deep inside 50 as a one-out target. One of those majors was a standout, as Ernst won the ground ball and powered towards goal from the pocket before finishing coolly."

"Ernst consistently looked like the most dangerous key position player for Country, presenting beautifully up forward and finishing as his side’s sole multiple goalkicker. He took advantage of the dry ball early on with a couple of terrific overhead marks; one coming from the back of a two-on-two contest on the wing, and the other a strong pack grab in the goalsquare, which resulted his first goal. Ernst would continue to present nicely and gained good separation with his combination of strength and athleticism. His finishing was the only issue at times, and a hand-off to Noah Gribble in the second term may have highlighted his wavering confidence in that area. Nonetheless, the Bendigo Pioneers tall went on to showcase his versatility by pinch-hitting in the ruck and even attending centre bounces during term four, in which he added his second major from close to the big sticks."

We have quite a fit squad at the moment and lots of competition for spots in and around the 22 in most positions. I can't see the value in taking a pick in this draft.
I’d say we have 27 fit players capable of AFL standards. If we can find a 28th in a position of need eg: lockdown small defender. Then I’m all for it. But I don’t think we should be looking at project players.

Good to see we are scouting a few different players. If Rioli falls over and with SPP already out, we need a medium/small forward who can impact the scoreboard.

There's no sense in going one short for the season (and we are only in May) when you have an opportunity to top up your list.

Is ex GCS McLennan any good
McLennan spent four years at the Gold Coast Suns without getting a crack at senior football before being delisted in 2022.
The rebounding defender returned to his junior club Central Districts and has been a key driver in the Bulldogs' rise up the ladder.
McLennan was named the Fos Williams Medalist as best on ground in both of South Australia's state games this year, putting his name up in lights on the big stage.
With an acute ability to read the play and compete in the air, McLennan can play on a variety of players and also provide attacking flair from half-back. Still aged only 23, McLennan is entering the prime of his career and has plenty to offer at AFL level should he get the call-up.

Cheers for that

Delisted last year so eligible:

Delisted by Essendon at the end of last season after 64 games with the club, Snelling has enjoyed one of the hottest starts to a SANFL season in recent memory.
Playing mostly as a small forward for Essendon, Snelling has slotted straight into the Double Blues' midfield and is leading the competition for both disposals and tackles and is ranked fourth for clearances.
Measuring in at just 175cm, some recruiters may consider him too small to play in an AFL midfield, but his cleanliness with ball in hand and defensive efforts are undeniable.
He has put in four best-on-ground performances in his first six games and been a dominant force to this point in the season, with opposition teams at a loss on how to stop him.
