This man should be the clubs biggest target during the season. We need to get him on the club board asap. He is a rhodes scholar as well as a past player and captain. If anyone can help get us out of the financial hole we are in at the moment, Fitzpatrick can. Come on Fitzy, we need you!

He would have my vote, no questions asked.

Not Fitzpatrick, we should move to the G as soon as we can get out of the Dome and that won't happen if he is President. Ditto for Collins.

And an AFL commissioner being on a club's board would be a great COI. :D

Did he stand up for us in 2002?

I think we desperately need some like Lee with his marketing expertise on the board, but we need more info on all the candidates before deciding who should go on the board.

From what I have gathered over the years he seems like a very capable (good looking) guy. He has served the club well, and also has the intelligence to go out and earn a good living outside of the club (one that was not available during Mikes years but now compares to those paid to todays footballers). A solid and proud history of service to the blues should not mean a lifetime of servitude, however there may well be an opportunity to return later in life to make further contributions.

Yours,

Mike.

I must say I personally am becoming a little disillussioned with the current board and the constant stream of negative messages and communication they are putting out into the market place.

In my opinion we do have a serious issue with Cash Flow due to sponsorship and costs, however the debt we have is due to the write down of the legends stand (predominately) so is more reflective of an accounting practice.

The only way we are going to improve our Cash Flow is by increasing sponsorship revenue, increasing the membership base and reducing costs. People or corporates do not want to be involved in a basket case so why are Collins and co constantly painting a bleak picture, why dont we follow the Eddie model and talk the club (and the brand) up, generate some enthusiasm and momentum and the rest will take care of itself. Geez Collo make something happen!

Exactly.

As for Fitzy .... NO. He is too busy being in bed with the AFL and I don't want another ex-AFL person back to the club.

Disagree SB, like the idea of having Fitzy on the board, although I suspect he'd have to step down from the AFL commission.

However, the more I read about Greg Lee, the more I like the sound of him as well.

he is on the afl board because he only has a small amount of time to spare and wants to stay in footy. com july this year he will have a lot more time as he will finish his hand over of hastings. don't be suprised if we see him back at the club at seasons end. he will get the club back where we belong off the field. i beleive he is the best we could hope for at carlton. what more could you want than a duel premiership captain, brilliant leader, rhodes scholler and brilliant business man and most importantly, a carlton man.
