I'd like to take the credit for this, my Miller thread must have finally made it sink in to the coaches :D:thumbsu:

No Maric again though? Sylvia not ready?

Robbo can kick a goal while Miller does nothing week in week out.

Not even J Brown, Fevola , Riewoldt, or even John Coleman himself could of improved the result last week. The delivery was shocking.....I am getting sick of this knee-jerk reaction .....it has been 1 week.

Knee-jerk reaction? You make me laugh. Nine years of mediocrity from Miller.

The writing was on the wall last year when he got dropped to Casey. Why he got re-signed fro another saeson is beyond comprehension.

Whilst Robbo has his flaws, our forward line operated far better with Jurrah and Robbo than at any time under Bailey. At least opposition coaches show Robbo respect, and put their best defender on him. They must rub their hands with glee when they see Miller's name on our team sheet.

Heres the context.

Here is your reply. Miller getting a 1 year extension was better than giving a year to Robbo. Don't think I am Robbo bashing or Miller loving either. I do have a signed bunch of Robbo stuff in front of me as I type. Yet he was past it. Would of offered what? Just dive for everything? Try and take MOTY 10 times a game? Miller is not the number 1 forward! He knows that Bailey knows that, everyone knows that, but he offers another traget when you add players like Jurrah and Watts to the mix, he does alot of good work off the ball.

So please laugh away.

I agree. Fact is Miller would be a very servicable 3rd forward and that plus his age make him worthwhile keeping around. He usually finds his 1 or 2 goals a game and would be a decent target beside jurrah and watts with a bate in there and wana around the packs. He is definately a usefull player up the ground and while never liing up to what has been hoped, deserved his contract.
Unfortunately last week he was the sole target for much of the game up against a good team. Bate was underdone, jurrah was out and there were no crummers about even when he brought the ball to ground.
Add to that the lack of run and speed bringing the ball in and the kicks over his head and you can see why he didnt star.

Yet for some reason he has been made a scapegoat when reality is no one would do any good in his situation. Cant wait for this same response of "drop him" when newton faces the smae dilemna tomorrow.

At last some sense! Totally agree! Miller is our scapegoat.

And Newton has been on our list for 7 years. He is a spud!

Miller>>>>>>>>Newton!

Robbo gives us a target, he was also our leading golakicker after missing about half of the season with a serious injury. He could of easily played for another year. The best year Miller had he still only got 25 goals just pipping Aussie cos Aussie missed the last few games. Nowhere near enough for a key forward (and he is a key forward cos he is too poor at ground level not to be) especially considering that he never gets injured.

This is why I think it was a mistake. At the end of the season our future forward line was Jurrah and Watts and that would make up for losing Robbo and the only reason why we would have Miller is for training purposes cos he always leads by example on the training track, he prepares well and never gets injured so we probably wouldn't need Robbo if everything went right. The problem with this though is what happens if it does go wrong? You get this a shambolic forward line with Miller out of his depth and too much expectations on Bate and Dunn.

This has been the problem with Failey. His plans sound alright but when something goes wrong and the crap hits the fan there is no back up plan. It seems to be all or nothing with Failey, that's why the players have no belief in themselves or the coach. The next goal we have to get to is to get our respect back and that is why Failey should take the priority picks and quit cos we are never gonna get respect with Failey as our coach. We must make sure Lyon doesn't have a say in our next coach and that we get a coach that demands respect and that coach is Mick Malthouse, we must do everything in our power to get him. We can't afford another Failey.

All those ripping into Juice being picked, do you understand how selection works?

If you wouldn't pick Juice who else would you pick to replace him? Watts? No way. Juice kicked 4 and had 29 touches for Casey last week.

The correct pronunciation & spelling is "Goose" not "Juice" . Please correct for future posts.

He should be. He's been ordinary his entire career. Newton will probably be the scapegoat next week and that's fine with me, just keep switching and changing players around until we do find someone. The last thing we should do (which we have been doing) is keep on playing a poor player just because the players below him are just as bad.

if he gets a game we are in trouble..

players like that need to be eases in

players like what? why ease in anyone who is playing well at Casey? Just because our other young guys seem like they are needing a bit more time doesnt mean Gysberts isnt ready to go.

And on the scapegoat thing - we should be doing it more with the senior players. Strauss had a bad game but we should have dropped Dunn to keep the pressure on.

Robbo should have been given the extra year before Miller.
Miller trains and prepares himself well for matches, he may even show some leadership BUT that does not make up for the fact that he is a spud!
Robbo is far from a perfect footballer he has his floors aswell(not enough pressure sometimes or tries to take MOTY).
However he can kick bags of goals and opposition teams will send their best backmen to him every week.

Can't defend Miller's performance last week, it was horrendous but I do think Bailey mis-used him. He should have been camped in the goal square where he generaly gives better value.

So glad Miller didn't play this week. I could have seen him botch the easiest of marks. We could have been cained if he was there. Miller just isn't that much of a target at all. he's not a good forward at all... not really anyway. imo.

Please just refer ALL discussion to the thread title please. NEVER AGAIN!

Even with that delivery Miller would of sucked arse and his work ethic and attack on the ball would of stood out to be 1% of everyone else's today.
