Miller SACKED Effective: IMMEDIATELY

Mellow......you the man......heard the same.

Had a hissy fit and shot through.

Where is he? Where is he? Where is he?

;)

Heard these thoughts from Caro on 'Offsiders' this morning....(yes i know Caro doesn't like GM etc etc,) - don't shoot the messenger!

No matter what way you look at it, this doesn't look particularly good from the club's perspective. Will be interesting to hear both (or should that be 'all') of the story.

and LMAO @ terry 'not knowing anything about it' when Christi Malthouse interviewed him on Ch 10 post game last night....though the poker face he had on was 1st class!!!:D

It looks likely that Miller has got the sack. The question is if this is the case, does the club have a particular replacement in mind? Or have they just sacked Miller and just hoped for the best?

Theres something that has happened between two partys in this story for this to come out .They say on the Australian the rumor started in Perth has he been approached by one of those clubs or maybe the Gold Coast franchise because Cook never took the job.Theres more to this story and I wonder unless its been leaked out he was gone at seasons end which is poor timeing.

with the benefit of a little hindsight and 16 pots my thoughts are this

Miller would want to have been involved in some sort of very serious conflict of interest

... or otherwise once again the club has acted very poorly and f..ked it up

No matter what your opinion of Greg Miller .... has worked very hard for the RFC and deserves some respect

How can you respect a guy that goes into hiding?

A guy that single handedly blew us into a $2m debt, wouldnt hire a list or recruitment manager, as he wanted to be the only power at the club?

This has been coming a very long time.

Everyone: "Warnock wants to come to Richmond, WCE want Jay Schultz and 2nd round pick."
Miller: "I THINK WE SHOULD TRADE 1ST ROUND PICK FOR JEFF FARMER!"
Everyone: "Warnock plays for Freo, not West Coast."
Miller: "Even I knew THAT!"

Not too sure you have all the facts in the right order the 80

was it because of the pre-existing debt that he had to shoulder a lot of the responsibilities on his own unable to hire any other people around him ?;)

I think your gun needs to be pointed in Clinton Casey`s direction in this inst not GM`s

We have to blame one person at a time.

We have to blame one person at a time.
I will throw Frawleys hat into the ring as well ...

After all it was him who barked at the moon like a howling wolf after 2001 ..."PREEEMMMIIEERSSHIIIIIIIIIP WIINNDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW"

Clinton Casey then adjusted all our budget forecasts accordingly allowing for increased membership due to our continued on-field success....... increased crowds and sponsorship revenues ..... Saw them ramp up our football dept. at a very large cost......

and we know how it panned out ... barely 18 months months later we were in the shit for millions ...

Greg Miller was first in the door with the mop in the bucket to start the clean up job . He rolled up his sleeves and took on multiple respensibilities .Whilst i am sure he has been paid very well , he has been an integral part of steading our ship ... i blame i lot of our recruiting blunders under Greg on the fact that we have been so thin on the ground innitially due to financial restraints ...

i just can`t help but think its a little like this .... "Alright Greg , thanks for for your help ... we`ve paid you very well for a while and we think we can take things from here ... close the door on the way out".

If i were him i would be p1ssed as well .

Wallace and Miller have been all about copping all the criticism with the key importance being "seeing the job through to the end"

I just hope we haven`t taken our eye of the ball just before we are about to hit pay dirt .

I agree with the Tony Free premise and accountability ... what i don`t agree with is accountability for accountability`s sake .... in other words , if it aint broke , don`t fix it .

We shall see how it pans out

I agree %100. I'm a Miller fan. Together with TW he has put this club on the right track, and I will remind everyone of this in the future.

If Sheedy does return to the club then it is understandable that Miller would be pissed and in a way so will I. They have been enemies for a long time.
Miller deserves to taste the fruit from the seeds he has sown.

A better question is: Do we need to replace him? What did he actually do (that hasn't been duplicated by recent hirings)?

What is more worrying is that Wallace doesn't seem to have been consulted in this.
And his assistant coaches, is he the one sacking them or is it Free?
Surely a coach should have the say in who he wants to work with.
No wonder we're a laughing stock.

Miller is a very ordinary bloke and you guys should be stoked he is gone.

There are guys with yellow and black blood who have resisted overtures to get involved at tigerland becuase Miller is there.

Hopefully for you guys they now jump on board the ship.

Be very happy tigers

I'm glad Miller is gone. His contributions to the club are overrated. March and Wallace deserve much more credit for turning the club around.

A lot of people will say the opposite as well. I haven't had much to do with him, but I've watched him operate with suporters for the last six years. He's a very friendly bloke to supporters.
What he's like behind the scenes well I wouldn't have a clue.
But i know people who do work with him and I've never heard a bad word from their lips about him.
But I've also heard others say the same as you've said, so I can hardly say you're wrong because I don't know, but find it hard to believe.

I know Kevin Sheedy has a deep hatred of MIller, especially from the trade dealings between us and the Bombers, eg. soloman and blumfield etc... so I cant imagine either being excited about working together.

It all looks like Sheeds is coming home at the expense of Miller.

If he is gone I hope they have a replacement in mind. I'd love to see Lambert back at the club ... should never have let him go.

Miller made some blues IMO trading away draft picks and is a bit of a spin doctor. To his credit though, when there were rumours at the end of 06 that we would trade Tucky, I wrote the club an email title 'DON'T YOU DARE TRADE SHANE TUCK!' and he wrote me back saying Tucky was a required player and going nowhere.

Really? wikd, it's not as though he had to respond to you!! i'de be rapt!!!

it's a possibility, I couldnt see sheedy ever being enthused about being in same company as miller

I am absolutely delighted. Thrilled.

That bloke was the sole reason Casey got back in.

The Solomon push, the Copeland play, the stuffing up of the Zantuck trade.... he should have gone years ago and I'm rapt he's been booted.

No idea about corporate governance (sitting on the board and also being football mgr, thus reporting to the CEO, who then reports to the Board) and I suspect TW wouldn't mind one bit.

Best news I've had in ages and made yesterday the perfect day. Timing less than ideal, but looking forward to further developments. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Thier beef goes back longer than that. Anything that has happened since he has been at Richmond have just furnaced it. The Marshmellow comments suggested a bit of dislike towards Miller and Dawson.

Miller played U19s with Richmond, dont know whether they met back then.

Maybe when Greg was at Sydney he beat Essendon to Darryl Vernons signature.

Either way you are correct that it was never possible to have them working together.

Miller ran up the debt mate. The football dept went way over budget.

And Miller had unfettered control over football matters since the day he walked in the door.

We handed him the keys to the joint.

You're reading way too much into this.

Miller has been on the nose for a very long time. The simple fact is that the club has outgrown him. Everything was centred around Miller, and he was fighting to keep it that way.

The club cant move forward if one guy wants to make all the footballing decisions. Thats the way Miller wanted it.

March has been taking steps for a long time to reduce the club's dependence on Miller by bringing in Craig Cameron and giving more strings to Francis Jackson. This was all taking place way before Tony Free stepped in the door.
