Milne V Daicos

Sorry if this is not Thread worthy as I have never created a thread before but I thought this needed to be raised.

After doing my daily routine web browse today I nearly choked on my lunch when I noticed the AFL site has compared the mighty Daicos to milne. They have done some good match-ups to date but this one is surely taken the P?ss.

Maybe others can suggest a better match-up for the great man.

To be fair Milne has been a great forward pocket for the Saints and one of the better players to play that position.

But Daicos was on another level and 20 years ahead of his time. Not many players (if any) can we say that of.

Sounds like obvious 'click-bait' from the AFL. Don't take it too seriously and move on.

I'd say the (ludicrous) comparison is due to the fact that they were both prolific non-full forward goal kickers.

But really, that's where the comparison ends. Daicos spent the first year or two (at least) as a midfielder and his career was cut short by stress fractures in his feet that Leigh Matthews wouldn't give him the chance to get over. That's basically the only reason Milne ended up kicking more goals.

Fact is, Milne isn't fit to sniff Daicos' farts through a wet towel.

And the fact that Milne played 275 games to Daics' 250... Daics had a better goals per game average.

There is not one aspect of Milne's game that was better than the Marvel's. Not even close..

Exactly. Daicos was a midfielder who was forced to play forward flank then forward pocket at the end of his career due to injuries. His goal-sneak magic was actually the last string added to his bow, but what he is remembered for.

He could kick accurate 60+ meter torpedo punts at will.

A better comparison would be Gary Ablett Snr.

If you are going to make a shitty little comparison video for no reason, why not compare Milne to other pure small forwards like Phil Matera or Jeff Farmer - who he actually statistically stacks up well against? Don't seem to remember seeing Milne rack up 39 possessions in a game.
