mirror sites

how do these mirror sites work? i want to download the direct connect programme but they bump you off to these mirror sites where nothing seems to happen.

i cant see where you can download from, do you have to pay for this ??

Seems to work fine for me. although usually there is a "click me" option if the thing doesn't autostart.
