He doesn’t play the percentages , it’s what makes him the player he is coz he’s got the game , who ever second serves at >200kmh , some of those passing shots down the line when he was on his feet were something else and sure as heck weren’t playimg the percentages , keep doing your stuff kid
He would have won last night if he played smarter tennis. Too many stupid shots on critical points where he had a simple winner option available.

kyrgios is one of the only player that anyone cares about after their big 3 all retire. ratings and crowds totally drop off after that. tennis is gonna struggle for ages once the likes of zverev thiem and medvedev are their only "big name" players. it's why they endlessly suck off nadal and federer and gave kyrgios weak punishments in the past so he didn't miss much tennis

there is a lot of truth in this

No he wouldn’t , he’s not at Rafa level, he was pure last night made fa errors , nick made a lot of stupid mistakes , eg drop shots that failed every time or rolling the dice on a 200kmh second serve on a big point , he was however on the ropes when he did that . He has a way to go and yes court craft is part but he is inherently a cavalier player

his drop shot wins a lot of points just didn't work tonight for whatever reason

his volleying is also usually high quality but his smash shots are TERRIBLE every match, misses so many easy wins with them. every other player would smash it into oblivion no chance of return and he just hits some weak shot back directly to their forehand every single time. so painful to watch
If I was his coach I’d be urging him to go the net after some of his punishing ground strokes when he had Rafa on back foot, had lots of chances and never ever did

Kyrgios needs to do 2 things:
1. Play smarter tennis
2. Play consistent tennis.
Nadal plays the same every game, every set. He sticks to process. Kyrgios plays worse when he gets behind because he tries too hard to force a win.

He matched Nadal last night in baseline play, and had a better serve. He is very close.

He doesn’t have a coach. He has a “team” whose job it is to stand up and applaud him every point.

He needs both a coach and an Emma Murray.

Have to question at why they are still as good as when they first started.
Federer is not. The other two are still relatively young. Their reign comes as sports medicine has taken quantum leaps in knowledge, they have been lucky to ride that wave. At the same time, the younger men don’t have the temperament, they’ve had everything handed to them during their junior development and lack the fortitude. They also developed using a relative lull in worldwide tennis popularity, where the best sportsmen went to other sports

Women’s tennis has no such problem, there are no dominant players.

Blaming a conspiracy is lazy thinking.

Good fight back by Kyrios , really should have won that match though. Double Fault serving for 3 rd set then a few strange shots when up in the 4 th set tie break .

he did pretty well, first 3 matches nadal lost 22 games 0 sets all up, last night lost 21 games 1 set. nadal in good form was hitting some blinder shots. courts too slow this aus open don't like em

record inflated by tennis version of Kitty Litter Park (French) not disregarding that record which is phenomenal.
Except you can win titles at Roland Garros. You can't at Kitty Litter Park.

The tennis equivalent to the Cats would be Nadal playing the first 6 matches at RG and then the Final was held at Wimbledon. While Roger (Richmond) was playing those first 6 matches at Wimbledon. :D

Edit: The Cats could be Roger too. Old and cooked :moustache:
