Passed up McKernan on pick 26 and gave away pick 38 for thompson from Port when we could have drafted Nick Heyne who went pick 48.
We also picked up Hislop who I would say is in the same mould as Thompson.WTF?
I hope these decisions don't bite us on the arse as they usually do.

Our recruiters would know MUCH more than you.

Thomson fills a need. Heyne doesnt.

I bet you were laying into Terry after those Sydney/Adelaide losses were you? About how we got smashed by the bigger bodies?

Well to answer your question, enter Thomson and Hislop.

Heyne has the X factor we have been looking for.Who else has it

what we needed before the draft.
a ruckmen.
tough big bodied mids.
KPF/KPB.
BP.
we got vickery that fills the ruckmen and the kpf. post fills the kpb and kpf.thomson and hislop are big bodied mids that could prply also fill a hole in back or rest forward.

Well done on picking Redden.
No one else did.

Post is close to the best key position player in the draft according to the club. Looks impressive in the youtube's too
Don't tell me you are believing that line hook, line and sinker. Of course the recruiters are going to talk the kids up.

Our missed opportunity was the fact that pick 8 wasn't a midfielder to strengthen our engine more, in saying that the only players that I would have wanted were either swift or sidebottom with that pick so I'm not overly dissapointed.

I'm glad we passed on Ziebell.

Vickery is a risk after the knee... the club would be in the best position to know if it's ok or not.

Post looks good in his clips and I'm glad we passed on Mckernan who I didn't rate when I saw him play.

Hislop is another risk.... but at 20 and about to start his third preseason could well be a gamble that pays off.

Thomson seems to be in the same mould as Hislop, so we are obviously addressing an area the club feels we are lacking in. I feel they both will be ear marked to be the small defender we are looking for.

At the end of the day this Draft looks to go either way.

If Vickery ends up as a number 1 ruck and a 10 year player than we have done well. Post will be competing against a handy list of KPP so he will be up against it. If either Hislop or Thomson force themselves into our 22 then it will be a bonus.

I'd say a small forward or a project tall.
With the pending retirements in the next few years of Johnson,Bowden,Richo etc and with the lack of quality picks in next years draft we will need to draft few rookies this year who have potential to come on our list next year.
I still reckon also there are a few on our list who are lucky to be there ie,Pettifer,JON,Graham and Pattison

The club has at least targeted our main list deficiencies, being inside midfielders and ruckman. Coughlan, Tuck, Hislop, Thomson, Polo and Jackson. All big bodies and hard at it.

Vickery fills a massive void, but as I think the club has Putt penciled in as a forward, we need to do a bit more. Hopefullly we take a ruck with the PSD pick and a rookie ruck or if not a PSD then 2 rookie rucks. That should sort us out for the long term.

Key defenders are looking pretty good, but another tall forward would be ideal for a rookie. Preferably a 195+ cm or 2.

We are missing now a couple of genuine crumbing forwards and at least 1 more A grade midfielder, which hopefully comes in next year's draft. The crumbing forwards should be sorted out with the rookie draft.

Yes but you fail to realise we have a PSD pick, plus another 5 rookies to come on to our list. The club is doing this well, just leave it to them.

well said, people are forgetting that the draft period is not over yet and we can still fill holes in our list with our pick in the psd and in the rookie draft.

cartledge has been dropped off the rookie list too old i think.
simmo has only another 2 years left in him i feel.
patto doent apear to be coming on as a ruckmen atm too small & not a very big leap . i feel he wont make much of an impact unless he really comes on in the next 2 years will be gone i feel.
graham again wa always an experiment with no promises and as yet hasnt shown a great deal in my mind wont make it.

but all is not lost things could work out well with the new boundry umpires coming into our game.
once simmo retires we could end up playing all of putt, vickery, pattison in the 1 team
vickery & putt share the centre bounces and play foward as well and pattodoes the rucking in the backline.

Cartledge is gone.

Simmo needs everything to go his way I feel re: Injuries for him to have an impact. Not expecting too much from him next season but would love to see him have a good year. His days are numbered.

Patto is coming along nicely HUGE tank and the 4 boundary umpires will make him more valuable around the ground this coming season. He has 53 matches under his belt and at 22 you really cant ask much more from an up and coming Ruckman.

Graham was had an interrupted pre-season and season but the club must like what they have seen because they chose him over Carteledge who impressed in the last few matches.

Putt is still a project player and will be given more time.
Vickery May well play rnd 1.

Our rucks are about right I think.
