Mitch Clark Return..

I wouldn't be surprised if Melbourne play hardball on Clark, because their team is so bad that they have to. Their list is never going to improve if they just give players away.

Realistically, if I was going to put a trade value on a player who retired from football following his personal issues, has been out of the game for a year and has previously had career threatening foot injuries, that trade value would be between a 3rd round pick and zero. He clearly will not be ready to go at the start of the next season due to fitness, and after that is no certainty to make it back to the top level. I would have him at best on a par with Gumby last season.

I have no idea where society went wrong starting to say "then" instead of "than" in sentence structure. That's the worst of all the sins. I can cop "your a dumb head"

"The dockers have cut their chances for a top 4 placing shorter then I would like"

That is common to see. Like 30% of people, sometimes an overwhelming majority...
Please revert to me. Like nails on a blackboard that one.

He is relatively high risk for the price that would probably need to be paid for him. will be interesting to see if Freo will go there.

I think Ross could put him in the Gumby basket

High risk, high reward

Rookie pick or use a very late pick - lowers the potential risk on our end

I'm ok with it

Personally, I don't think it's worth the trouble. We've still got Sylvia lying around - and jeez we could've used his best yesterday if he decided to get with the program. My two cents is we'd be better off continually finding, drafting and developing the taller players the club needs - unless some potential gun drops in our lap.

After watching yesterday, there looks like there is going to be a bit of a lag after we lose Pav, Sandi and to a lesser extent (now) McPharlin. We are hoping Apeness comes on reasonably quickly and it seems Griff is going to have to be the interim ruckman after Sandi. Freo would love to fill the Pav gap to stop it happening, but it may not be possible. If Apeness and possibly Moller come on quickly it might be fine. It's sort of a race against time.

I could never welcome him as a Freo player, all that condescending shit about wanting to be close to his ill grandmother, to get out of Brissie.
Then shaft us at the 11th hour, that's a no from me thanks Eddie.

Lol Great avatar!

and I agree with your sentiments.

He did get snared by a classic schwabolly manoeuvrings.

Have heard a couple of times from the journos that Freo have given up on the landing a big name forward and are just going to go down the drafting and development road. As you say though if someone nominated us, well that's different.

I'd love to get Mitch Clarke. Get a full preseason into him. Are we any chance? He would definitely be worth getting along the same lines as Gumbletons contract.

Will be hard for him to get a club now though, realistically.
Can't say I agree tbh. The guy is the best key forward available and by some distance as well. Hopefully he nominates us to make it easier. Would've thought we were the only logical option. A guy who's been through what he has needs to have the support of his family and friends and West Coast have other problems to deal with.

Would welcome him with open arms.

People just seem to forget that these guys are real people. Throw a bunch of cash at them when they have less than 10% of their life to make that sort of money and expect them not to take it?

Spare me.

Lets not forget that there were upwards of 4 individual parties involved and they all wanted their own set of outcomes. It's hardly all Mitch's fault.

Much better 2nd ruck/key forward option than Clarke, if Mitch was back to his best. That's a pretty significant if though. Who knows.

I'd take him as long as it didn't cost a heap. Otherwise just keep developing like we are.

Realistically it would be either West Coast or Fremantle. I dont think any interstate club would be after him.

I would be happy to rookie him

So technically he's still at Melbourne, so we will have to trade for him? Our first round pick?

Also, isn't it kinda shitty he was going to come here then dogged us at the last minute. To add to that he has a mental condition that makes him unstable. Do we really want him? I mean seriously.
