I agree. Isn't he on the rookie list? It used to be that players on the rookie list couldn't be traded - have they changed that now so that rookies can be upgraded onto the primary list and then traded? How does it work?

Jenkins was a rookie when he was traded to Adelaide, I think it's fine to trade them. Does Jeremy's dad still have anything to do with the club?

Last I heard Mcgovern was injured with a broken ankle, so he may be available.

TBH though, I think we will be best served just going through the draft again. Already this year, Smith, Taberner and Hannath look to be very good picks, for very little. Imagine what could happen if we used a pick better than 36 :P

Id agree with drafting as well.

Looking at the info at the draft board, there is a fair bit of key position talent. a few WA guys are key forwards too.

Ultimately a blessing in disguise, feel somewhat bad for the Dees (will be alleviated if they end up with picks 1 and 2 though).

I imagine East Freo will have a quiet word with him in a year or so if not sooner.

Unless they trade or someone offers a massive deal to Frawley, how are they going to get picks 1 AND 2 - surely they're not going to get some sort of compensation for Clark are they?

Pick 1 for Frawley and pick 2 for the spoon.

A team would have to offer some stupid almost Sydney/Buddy-esque type deal for Melbourne to get compensated with a top tier compensation from the AFL for Frawley. More likely to be next tier down (end of 1st round) if not one lower than that - depending on what sort of deal he agrees to.

Remember, the AFL are trying to slowly fade out the compensation thing - though it is Melbourne, and the AFL do love handing Melbourne top draft picks. It is what the Demons exist for after all.

Pretty sure the compensation so far has been after your pick. If they get a first round for him, then it will be pick 2.

Goddard was a first round pick, I doubt Frawleys deal will be too different.

Thomas was first round as well. AFL hasn't completely abolished priority picks either, it's now just up to their discretion, Melbourne could conceivably end up with picks 1, 2 and 3

Yeah maybe, but I can't see it happening. The AFL made it clear after the first year they want to weekend the compensation (and eventually get rid of it all together). That, plus I couldn't see Frawley getting the sort of top shelf deal anyway, I can't see Melbourne getting the 'first tier' compensation for Frawley.

However, like I said, the AFL could play silly buggers which they've shown they'll do with Melbourne, so anything is possible.
