We never really talk up Mitch Hahn as much as we should, so I dedicate this thread to Mitch Hahn. I have had the pleasure to meet him a couple of times, he is very friendly and talkative and an extremely nice person.

Suffering the ACL knee injury against Brisbane at the Gabba last season was a blow to the club – Mitch has that “no fear” about him he bashed and crashed into everything before the injury.

All going according to plan he should be back by Round 8 or so, I look forward to seeing him back in the team.

Thoughts?

Don't you just love the way Mitch goes about it.

Why kick an easy goal when you can scrub one through from 30 metres out, having 3 blokes hanging off you as you are falling over?

He is crucial with his bullocking work up forward.

I've often thought that it would be good to see him in the centre square occassionally at a ball up, just to create carnage (I love hearing South Africans say this word).

Yeah hes a top footballer, you dont realise what you have until its gone and thats what happened to me this year, when he went down you could tell he was the missing link for all his bulloking and such. I for one cant wait to see him back out there again.

And also hes a great guy with a fantastic personality, very approachable. I got a photo with him at the B&F and he had no problems with it.

absolutely love the guy. watching Hahn play is so bloody exciting.. to me... he's our chris judd. really find it unfair how unpublised & unappreciated he is..i guess he isnt the only one

on our afl site, a certain dawg who ive forgotten said his most admired player was mitch..hell yes!

Yep, the guy is a gun and will be back in the team as soon as he's fit. He's extremely vital to the team in general. If you watch the highlights DVD from this season, you'll see Mitch feature heavily before he does his knee. Kicked a few goals, set a lot up too.

Gun.

As for him playing in the centre square. He does occasionally. I can remember against the Eagles in 05 him getting on the ball and booting a goal from 60 out on the run which gave us a massive lead. Effective everywhere he plays.

I think he might come back more gradually than Murph and Darce. I would expect him to play maybe two or three games for the 'bees before returning to the senior side. I'd expect both Darce and Murph to be playing AFL as soon as they are fit, Darce because he's had extra time to prepare and Murph because he's a touch player with miraculous skills and judgment. Mitch's game involves a lot of grunt and I'd expect him to need to get the feel for it before making a senior return. I'm hoping for him to make a big impact in the second half of the season, ideally he'd still be relatively fresh come finals time.

Agree with the method of re-introducing him into the team. There's something like 100kgs now on that knee of his, so there's going to be a lot of strain on it. A few games with the Bees would give him a solid re-introduction to get used to the strain of competitive footy.

We have got to get him up and going to stand any chance. Not only big hearted but capable of making critical goals out of nothing at crucial stages. Just loves breaking tackles. One of the most important players in the side.

That's exactly how I see him...a very important player in our side it will be good when he finally gets back into the side.

Before I start, I'm a fan of the new avatar AJ, nice work

Pembleton, Scooter, Captain Sensible and myself watched Wednesday's training from the Whitten Stand, and we were fortunate enough to have Mitch and Doogs doing stair runs next to us.

2 things stood out for me. Firstly, he had a smile on his face pretty much the whole time. Says a lot about him for mine, even though he's not out there amongst the thick of the action, he's happy doing what's required of him (either that or he and Doogs were happy to get into the shade, but that's neither here nor there...)

Second, he made Doogs look like Andrejs Everitt. And Doogs aint that small. Someone pointed out that the fact Mitch was wearing a singlet top it might have made him look a bit bigger. But when you've got guns like that, why wouldn't you show them off. The boy is HUGE.

If they're doing it again next time I go to training I'll be half tempted to do some runs myself and see how I go keeping up with them, I'll see how I go. I've gotta start getting fit again before RecFooty starts

Hahn is a very important player for our team. His hardness and attack and brute strength to break the packs is something that we need, to make a mark this year imo. The sooner he is back in the 22 the better.

Captain Sensible's $5 USSR binoculars form Forges will do that!

Thanks westdog54, but I can't take the credit for creating that cool avatar, all thanks go to The Coon Dog it is all his work.

Yes, I agree - Hahn just wants to be out there and playing again.

My fav player is Mitcha, I have no shame in saying I tearied up good and proper when he went down with the knee injury.

The guy is a massive fan of wrestling and it kind of shows with his strength and conditioning. I remember once when Anthony Stevens had a crack at our Mitcha only for Mitch to layeth the smackdown. It was quite comical to see a veteran footballer get pummelled by a youngster.

I agree with you Coon Dog, the mere sight of Mitch carrying the ball with half the opposition side trying to bring him down typifies Hahn Premium. The helicopter goals from 50m that never get more than 5m off the ground is also one of his signature moves.

My favourite is a few years back at the Gabba, playing in the square he pollaxed Voss with this great tackle. Voss took a long time to get up, in the mean the Scott idiots "attempted" to pick a fight with Hahn.

These were my thoughts when watching the error riddled, lack of quality control 2006 goal kicking highlights dvd.

It just showed how important Mitch and Murf were to our side.

yeah i was watching that dvd season 06 and noted how often mitchs hard work created goals. Either from him directly or just a bump or tackle that spilled the ball onto murph, johnno and robbins.
