Mrton is good,

But will be one of the first the supporters will turn on if he season goes **** up.

Exactly right nut. I hope Morton has a few spare flak jackets if the season goes down the gurgler.

I agree with Beaver's post, Morton has the tools to be a good player but I remain unconvinced. If he works hard on his deficiencies, mainly his motor, then he can become more versatile and hence more unpredictable. If not, he will become a liability.

If he played 22 games in 2008, he would have kicked 50 goals. He's very good and really should work on his overhead marking. Needs to strengthen the hands

seems to be a good player. as long as he provides us with a strong target up forward and bags up 40 to 50 a year im happy:thumbsu:

I think he was a great pick up. Really happy with his season for a 21 year old - but as beaver said above he does have some deficiencies which i hope he can fix. Wasn't impressed when Terry played him as the sole forward in one game and he was comprehensively beaten. He can also run straighter at the ball at times instead of trying to get his oponent to run past it so he can slip out the back.

Ahh, good old mitch.

Has a long way to go.

Needs to play more consistently within a game and from game to game.
Needs to work much harder defensively.

Double grabs his overhead marks.

Plays on too much when shooting for goal.

Needs to get fitter.

Runs far too close to the man on the mark when having a set shot.

How many games would he have got a vote in this year??? Any?

shows glimpses, but so do many others.

The snag has spoken

I think he is a good player with some minor deficiencies. I think he could potentially kick 50 goals in a season if he can get his shit together.

He has great agility, kicking skills and goal sense. His deficiencies include motor, defensive pressure (although he did show considerable improvement in this area), and overhead marking to an extent. He does not seem comfortable on blokes that are a lot bigger than him. He crapped his pants on a few occasions during the year, especially when he was on Tom Harley.

If he can get a bit more defensively minded and if we can get some bigger bodies in the forward line to take the pressure off him, he could potentially be a very good player for us at half forward. Needs another good year in 2009 to cement his place in the side, and knock the final nails in Pettifer's coffin.

Agree. Had a great year and is very clever player. I like him to!!:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Wasn't as strong in the air or on the lead as Ben McKinley (who plays well above his height & weight) & just isn't as slippery/freakish as Mark LeCras but is a decent middle ground between them.

I liked him, ended up getting Scott Selwood out of the deal so no harm done in the end, especially when you have McKinley/LeCras.

Respectfully disagree. Neither LeCras or McKinley are half-forwards (they are very good forward pockets). You gave us a gift. Morton will prove to be one of the finest half-forwards of the modern game.

Yeah mate. :thumbsd:

Just isn't exciting for my liking. He is a very predictable player, just a boring lead up half forward. Can't kick for goal, I'd really like to see his stats there. I mean, half the time he tries to snap it :rolleyes::rolleyes:.
For him to be anything near a half decent player, he needs to add some versatility (which means he is able to do many things well) to his game as well as getting a bit of X-factor about him.

Has super hands and applies a lot of defensive pressure though. Also impressed with his tank.

But as I said, a complete spud.

lol nicely posted, I get where you're coming from :D

I reckon Morts needs to have that competitive streak throughout pre-season that Deledio, Cotchin, Riewoldt etc all have. It's what drives them to train harder and IMO this would help Mitch rectify his main weaknesses (endurance; defensiveness).

If he sits back this pre-season then he'll have an average year, no better than Kayne Pettifer in 05-07 where for all his faults, he did kick 100 goals.

We got Morton and the Bulldogs got Sam Reid with our pick 35 which you passed onto them. But you pretty much gave up the picks used to get Reid and Ben Hudson to the Bulldogs for Scott Selwood. Overall, I would say us and the bulldogs were huge winners out of that deal :D
