Needs to pull his head in a bit this bloke, could have cost us another win had he missed that shot on goal.Start playing for your team and not for yourself mitch.I'm beginning to understand why west coast weren't too fussed about him leaving.Stop trying to be the "hero" and start playing team football you'll get a lot more respect from the players and supporters otherwise you'll just be another wasted talent like Marty mcgrath who could have been a gun if it wasn't for his attitude.

I'm not sure where I sit with Morton at the moment. Do we take that natural spark and flare out of his game, or let him run with it. In the past 3 weeks he's shown us that it can both win and lose us a game.
He's very lucky he got it, cause he'd be lynched if he ****ed up twice.

He only just scraped it in TC.If he had missed I have no doubt he'd in the magoos for a month at least.

He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't in this instance. He could have gone back and had the set shot, but then the demons would have been playing in his head and he would have had quite a bit of time to think about missing the shot. By playing on, he actually opened up the angle.
Certainly would have been criticised more for missing the play-on shot than a set shot though.

That's the whole point tugga. At least he would have got respect for doing the team thing.

Yeah I thought it was going to smack the post when it left his boot.
The worst thing I guess was that he didn't know how long was left, so if he played on and the siren went before he kicked it he'd be the stupidest guy in football.
I'm not sure where to sit with it. We want our players to take risks, but not selfish risks. He did say he's allowed to play on inside 30 metres, so he did have a license to do it.
But I thought 2 years ago one of the key team rules was not to play on inside 50???

So he gets no respect for kicking the goal?

Geez you blokes cry over the littlest things. He is a better snap shot for goal than a set shot, end of story. I guarantee he would of missed it if he took the set shot, especially with everything that has happened. Good player who is still young, give the guy a break.

It was because richo did it all the time and missed a lot. That license needs revoking now.

Wallace said he can play on from inside the 30m mark. So he was doing what the coach said.

That is how he plays. This is exactly what we need to do. Let people play there natural game!!! FFS

Did you see the set shots he had done. Crap. I'm glad he played on. He won us the game.

I was more worried about Riewolt kicking it out on the full:eek: LOL.....

the team thing? either way he was having a shot at goal. whatever way is best for him is fine, as long as he kicks it. history says he normally does. a mongrel floater through the sticks is just as much a goal as a snap from the boundary.

Get off the kids back ...

Was far more likely to kick that goal by playing on , reducing the angle and snapping than he was with a set shot .

Simple fact of the matter ... especially when you consider how the rest of his set shots went

Even when he plays on your hearts in your mouth,I'd rather see him learn how to kick from a set shot.He needs to do lots of set shots at training at least once a week.

If you've been watching him this year then you'll see and understand that these are his bread and butter shots...dont believe me, then look at some of his shots inside the 50, on and near the boundary from all of his matches this year and you'll see why.

Maybe its you that needs to pull his head in and let the kid play to his strenghts

There is nothing wrong with giving him an hour by himself to learn how to do set shots during training, there might be a time when the siren blows and he has no choice but to kick from a set shot.

Mitch can sail them through the big sticks, on the snap any time he likes in my book......clutch kick and he delivered the result...the end..

Having said that, i can see it now....and if its gunna happen its gunna happen to the tigers, like it always does...one kick in it, he plays on 30ms out, and as he is about to put boot to ball..the siren goes and the tigerheads go gaga...again...;)

BLOODY HELL GUYS, ONE OF THE WORST THREADS EVER...

If he did go back for a set shot, he would have run around anyway, it's the way he plays, if you watch the kick, the guy on the mark was on his knees, that was the only reason he played on straight away.

GET OVER IT...WE WON..STOP KNIT PICKING

What if he didn't kick it?,you'd be asking him to dropped for sure.Sometimes players need a little kick up the arse like richo did a while back when was spitting the dummy every game.It didn't do him any harm did it?

I like the guy have to say, and I think you need to take the good with the bad with Morton. At least he has the balls and wants to be involved winning the game, rather than just avoid responsibility when the games up for grabs, or just go into panic mode like Moore and Jack did on Saturday night :thumbsu:

He used to do that play on and kick the ball around the corner when he played for us as well. I'm sure that having missed a couple of set shots already that night he would have been nervous as hell lining up for the winning goal on a tricky angle - I wouldn't have put money on him kicking that goal.

Seems to be he is an instinctive footballer, that does his best work when he hasn't got time to think. Whilst it may have looked risky to play on, it was probably the smart thing for him to do.

Yeah, we should tell him not to snap his set shots.

While we're at it, we should tell Deledio, Tambling, White etc not to use their pace, in case they run too far with the ball.

And tell McGuane, Thursfield, Moore etc not to spoil their opponent, in case they give away a free for taking the arms.

Except that this time we were behind and NEEDED him to kick the goal. And he likes doing it best by playing on. So be it if that's how he is most accurate.

So pretty much totally different to the Port game where he played on and this thread basically makes no sense and seems like you're shooting a man down for kicking a game winner.
