It’s frustrating for you, imagine how frustrating it would be for our selection committee?

When a senior coach announces at a presser that he’s excited to debut a player who has been in the club for 12 days because it will free up 6 other players on the field to be able to properly play their role …

… that doesn’t reflect too well on the other options, does it?

Is that what Fly said?

That comment makes absolutely no sense.

If you moved around/disrupted 6 players or they are impacted by 1 player then that is poor.

I'm with ya Dave, by the end of the year Westy should be a fixture up front for us..."Skunk's" done his job for the couple of seasons he had left but the selectors couldn't have forseen all the injuries (to Moore, Steene, Hayes and of course Billy) along with the continued absence of Bobby Hill that have left our front half disjointed and for the most part toothless.

Did you see West's second half last week in the reserves? He was clunking marks for fun and only a case of the yips stopped him from kicking a bag. I reckon he reminds me of Jack Riewoldt, undoubtedly talented but Jack took a good 3-4 years and 50 odd games to really make his stamp on the competition. The job now is to get Westy in and playing regularly (if we still had Billy playing I reckon West would have already been given the nod over Membrey). Our structural pieces need to start being Frampton, Howes (yes Howes over Moore at CHB), Anderson over Long (until Neale gets here next year), McStay and Moore at FF with West as the lead up forward.

So yeah Dave, still got lots to look forward to with Charlie West (and a few of the other young ones).
I went to Casey Fields on Saturday and Saw West Play and he was Massive in last Qtr took some very strong Marks and big reason why we got up to beat Casey.

Just wished he Kicked a Bit Straighter but lot at the Club at the Moment have that Issue

Yeah I want Darcy to play the Rocca 2002/3 role - centre bounce and then move forward.

Did you see what Happened when he played Ruck this year?

He was behind and trying to catch up to the ball drop - it was actually an action more likely to happen in defence than in a boundary line throw in.

Yep. Ahead of last week’s game. And he went a lot further than that in his barely contained frustration with our youngsters.

Fly is a Premiership winning coach of a team that two years earlier were washed up hacks and talentless youngsters who finished 17th? Surely we have to give him some credit for knowing what he’s doing? And what he does do is likely beyond the comprehension of us mere mortals?

Fly has received more than enough credit and is a good coach. However, he needs to remain accountable.

For example Slot won a league title for Liverpool. One season later he is Gonski. The fans easily could have swallowed the shyte he was spinning to the fan base and said "he knows what he is doing", "we are mere mortals" Thankfully sanity prevailed and he was moved on.

Accountable for results, sure. If we have 3-4 seasons of missing out on finals then we need to start asking questions about whether the senior coach is up to it.

And accountable to their own standards. If a senior coach says something like “I can’t see how we lose a game of footy this year” and then goes on to lose 9 out of the next 10 or something like that, then they’re toast. (We can be grateful that we follow a club that don’t say stupid things like that)

But us punters really have NFI about the decisions made by a footy department in season.

We have NFI about the niggles that players are carrying.

We have NFI about the fitness levels of players. We have NFI about player’s recovery.

We have NFI about the off-field stuff players are doing or dealing with. We have NFI about club imposed suspensions.

We have NFI about player’s adherence to game plan. We see a player kick and turn the ball over directly to the opposition - is that because the player kicked to the wrong place? Or is that because a team-mate wasn’t where he should have been? We really have NFI.

We see player 1 kick the ball and player 2 take a brilliant MOTY contender, and we all get up out of our seats and go all happy clappy. For all we know the Senior Coach could have steam coming out of his ears in frustration because player 1 had kicked to the wrong place - yet again - and without that MOTY contender we would have been vulnerable going back the other way. We have NFI.

Collingwood is not in the EPL.

You wish we were more like Carlton and Essendon that have each gone through 7 Senior coaches in the last 25 years in their quest for success?

According to many Collingwood was stuffed when Fly buzzed in. Two PFs and a 🏆 later things are stretched. That is how the system works, the draft and salary cap work. Collingwood has got the most out of their veterans. The club is in transition and Fly has made it clear it is not working as expected. Huge credit to the club and Fly. The EPL with rich owners, common sackings, player movement and huge salaries is a different world. To apply that world to Fly as a form of punishment or accountability is not balanced.

Sorry, waiting 3-4 seasons is too long. You will have wasted the prime years of Naicos.

All the other stuff is an excuse.

Who was the last Premiership coach of any club who was sacked earlier than 3-4 years?

AFL is a team sport.

Just because a team has a superstar it doesn’t make them successful team. Plenty of dud teams have had their poster boys.

If you told someone at the end of 2019 that Collingwood would win their next Premiership within 4 years by trading out Dual AA Brodie Grundy and even paying a portion of his salary - they’d think you were nuts.

After the 2019 prelim I’d find it very believable.

I was one of the people advocating for Grundy to be traded as it was a bad contract. Thankfully GW was of the same thought process

Cameron/Cox were a decent duo.

I don't fully understand you point re Naicos.

I wanted him traded before we signed the contract with him. We could have gotten pick 1 from the Crows that year for him (which became pick 2), but instead signed him, and traded him away for pick 25ish a year or so later while paying a third of his salary...

Ned f***ng Guy.

I think that decision went above Ned Guy
