Well sadly our skipper clearly thinks the world of him, i was hoping that with dubya gone from the captaincy this obsession with reuniting all the duds who cost us back to back ashes would finally be over but all we have heard lately is johnson this and haddin that.

Starting to think that 5-0 sweep of england was the worst thing to happen to aussie cricket, yes we stuck with the guys who lost the ashes and they came back and got their revenge but they were special one in a lifetime players, guys like mitch and haddin simply don't have the pedigree to justify how many chances they have had.

Nail..head..Bang! AC Gilchrist, SK Warne, GD McGrath, RT Ponting - all potential match winners - all playing on the same side.

We were blessed as along with them we had a high quality support cast and phenomenal depth in the wings.

Now we have nothing like that.

The reason Johnson must never play test again is not only does he get batsman's eye in by bowling his customary 3 crap balls an over but the bowlers can not attack as a group as there is always plenty of runs up Mitches end... Last year without him the guys bowled great together building up pressure from each end. Kiss that goodbye if he is playing... But the usual line of ' mitch is a matchwinner' will no doubt be rolled out... Siddle, Hilfenhaus, Harris, Pattinson, Cummins, Cutting must all surely be in front of him for this summer...

Maybe McDermott quit when he was told that Johnson was coming straight back to the national side. Working with him might have done his head in I recon. It sure does mine in watching Johnson bowl!
after all the shit we went through with Hilditch, Hughes, Boon and co... Andy Bichel and Rod Marsh just continue the trend. They'll pluck a young leg spinner straight out of St Kilda 2nd grade soon.

Bloody Johnson and Haddin must be realy good mates with the selectors because you can bet Haddin will be back throwing his wicket away and fumbling his way through matches soon.

The campaign for haddin started with the skipper in the press conference the day wade hit his ton, basically summed up the arse backwards way cricket is run now in this country, a 24 year old makes a ton in difficult batting conditions and the skipper is more worried about reassuring his over the hill mate who played poor and irresponsible cricket for well over a year.

Johnson's changed his routine. Runs in with the delivery arm tucked instead of at his hip, different run up, better balance. Despite the no balls, he got pretty consistent movement and hit good areas. There were no wild deliveries of note. His actual deliveries were pretty ****ing good. I'd watch this space for one more game, and I've been calling for the bloke's head as much as anyone.

How about after a 1 year lay off he goes back to grade cricket and forces his way back into the team if he is truly good enough... Boys club

Ok I have googled and still have no idea what "mummygate" is.

No, it hasn't he was never any good, he was just different. Once the world cricketers got a look at him and figured him out it was over. Guy bowls an off cutter that sometimes moves, every one figured out not to chase the wide ones and to wait for the bad balls to put away because they were always coming, they also realised that rarely did the ball move so value for playing proper cricket shots against him was on the cards.

The same thing happened with Cameron White. He bowls top spinners and wronguns. Burst onto the scene and took a load of wickets for Victoria. Again, it was because he was a bit different and unusual. Once every one got a look at White, he was figured out and now he hardly ever gets a bowl for Victoria.

Mitchell Johnson could never bowl, he was just unusual compared to the rest of the bowlers in the world and has been figured by out by batsmen around the world since.

Lets face it, unless you bowl over 150-160KM/H consistantly. You are only going to be a good bowler in world cricket if you can get the seam right and swing the ball or move it off the wicket and Johnson does neither of these things unless it's perfect conditions for swing or seam.

He's in the side, nothing that can be done about that. Just commenting on what he is showing.

Hope to god that he does come good and get the seam right. If he ever got the seam right and swing it back into the right handers he would be a real handful being left armed and at that pace if he ever did get it coming out right. Who knows, new coach, loads of time off, it could happen. We all know Cooley was a dud so lets see what others can do with him.

At the end of the day lets be real now, his action is compeltely f**cked. Fixing it is like glueing together a demolsihed house - it cant be done.

He needs to start again - watch some DK Lillee videos and try and replicate that. You never know he might be right handed!

Hahahahaha! Specialist batsmen...

Considered him finished already and then he gets a run ahead of our future quicks, terrible selection . . . .

When he had back problems as a youngster he played a few seasons of Brisbane Grade Cricket as an opener.
Did quite well.

He should be used up the order more often. If the innings has got really bogged down and let's face it, these days it nearly always does, he should be sent in as he never gets bogged down. If he sticks around(that's a big if but he has got 2 fifties in ODI) he can go at a run a ball without breaking a sweat and by playing proper shots. The weirdest thing of all, he can rotate the strike better than most of the top 6. In the last 2 years he has been batting at an SR of over a 100 with an average of around 22/23 from what I remember.

I thought the small amount of his bowling I saw looked better - apart from the crap, if that makes sense. He did seem to be moving it a bit more. I'm not saying I'd stick with him but I assume they will for a while so use his strengths occasionally to make up for the fact that they are going to see if any players are worthwhile test players through the ODI system.

Clarkey did it once when the Aussies had a big chase and it worked beautifully. They discussed doing it during the World Cup but Punter had control of the batting order and it never happened.

If he's in the 11, I'd rather watch him bat than bowl.
