This is the hardest one to figure out. Mick still seems to be popular with players, Eddie and board members. But we are not getting the result we want. I really think McGuane is at least a few years away from being a chance. I think the position is 15th to 7th and ultamately next year has to be the top or Mick is out of here. What ever the result is get ready for some big or small changes in the next 2 to 4 weeks.PieLebo87 said:Mick Malthouse out,

You may need to explain in a bit more detail re your comments. Being around the club for the past 30 years i know what your saying but maybe the others dont. But remember forgive and forget he was great on the field.ThatThis said:Lets hand over the reigns to a reformed gambler, alcoholic and off-field disgrace...
That's the way to lead our club... oh wait... HES REFORMED! it's all good then...
Everitt and Gardiner... let's build that culture we all want so badly

I do agree with you there you dont replace and m&m with an m&m thats all i will saysloth6 said:Would be the worst decision in the clubs history.
Even worse than selecting Brent Hall in the Draft!
I can not disagree with anything you have said and the list of next coaches are in the correct order IMODazman said:Mick Malthouse will have a few years at least. Can't see him getting the sack if we make the finals next year and we're a huge chance at that.
Just for arguments sake if Mick were given his marching orders, the preference for coaches would be Mark Williams > Guy McKenna > Bucks captain coach > Mich McGuane.

Exactly. That strategy should be left back in the 1970s where it belongs.Hadders said:And just because McGuane was an ex-Collingwood great should make absolutely no difference whatsoever. The coach of Collingwood should be the best available candidate regardless of where he played or coached. Are people forgetting what happened last time we went blindly for a Collingwood great?
The good bloke policy has done us wonders hasn’t it? McGuane would be a big risk. MM is not a risk. We already know what he doesn’t have and hasn’t done.ThatThis said:Lets hand over the reigns to a reformed gambler, alcoholic and off-field disgrace...

Longer than Leigh Mathews was.Hadders said:Why is Mick McGuane's name even being mentioned?
Yes there have been some positive comments about his coaching abilities but he's been an AFL assistant coach for what, 1-2 years? There are a long line of candidates ahead of McGuane right now.

McGuane has been talked up since Parkin had him in the box which was a lot more than 2 years ago. He has taken the reigns in the bush which is a very hands on do it all yourself role. He has been at a couple of AFL clubs and he has played under Mathews and in a premiership.
There is not doubt McGuane is a risk. IMO if Collingwood don’t take risks we won't win a premiership.
Come on stop being silly, your posts have been good of late and then you wreck it all with thisPieLebo87 said:Mick Malthouse out,

But remember that many champion players do not make good coaches.Looka t the current crop of coaches.Coin_Toss said:McGuane was a duel best and fairest winner, Victorian representative (four times), All-Australian honorary, but most significantly, Collingwood premiership player. He also attained Collingwood Hall of Fame stature earlier this year.
If you speak to guys who say him play they will tell you he was in the top echelon of League players. BT said he was the most skillful player behind Daicos and also he loved receiving the ball from McGuane's boot laces.
