Modem Help

Just bought a new system, having a problem with dial-up connection. I can surf the net no worries, but when i go to download anything (email, files, ect) i always get disconnected around the same time (7-10 mins).

The most annoying thing is that the old brick of a computer i used to have had no problems like this at all with the same server.

I have heard that xp and internal modems sometimes dont get along to well?

Any thoughts, suggestions????

if its a new system check your motherboard type and modem chipset, there is an issue with certain types of epox motherboard and agere chipsets which are fairly common on internal modems, the fix is to upgrade your motherboard bios to the latest version.
