Just wondering if you can help me out fellas, Modra was dropped from the team in 1998 that went on to win the flag, but I can't remember who came in, or otherwise took his spot.....

Modra, L. Stevens, and Liptak came out of the side that was flogged by Melbourne in the QF. Rintoul, Pittman, and Jameson came in for the SF against Sydney. Only Pittman survived for the GF.

They dropped Modra and went for the 3 ruckmen, Rehn, Pittman, and Marsh in the SF. Dropped Marsh for the PF and brought him back for the GF. On paper it looks as though they swapped Pittman for Modra, however you would argue they went with Marsh over Modra.

That is how I saw it anyway.

I didnt think Liptak was part of either of our '97 or '98 finals series.. One unlucky bugger if that is true.

Yep, only played 2 games for the year, 1 being the QF. Not sure if he got injured (again) or dropped.

I still put our lack of a dynamite forward since Modra down to the footy gods punishing us for dropping him and allowing him to leave. The same footy gods which have made the no 2 guernsey cursed since we sacked Jarman. We'd rather have finals failing crowbots on our team.
