Moloney's Shoulder

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Broken is it?

That will be 4-6 or so I gues?

Terrible news, I thought he was terrific until he went down and it was the first long injury-free run he'd had since his 2005 season.

Re: Moloney's Wrist

Apparently a shoulder popped out, but it's horrid news for the lad. Hope he bounces back from it, was pretty good today but in a handball happy game he's not as effective as he could be

Re: Moloney's Wrist

yeah i thought it was a shoulder, they seemed to be fiddling round with in on the bench trying to get it back in. either way it's shame, he's tough and puts his back into it. hopefully see him for a few more games later in the year.

Re: Moloney's Wrist

I thought it was wrist and they said wrist on the news but could have been wrong, either way its not good for him because he was starting to play some good footy, and looked to have some pace back. I hope he is right and comes back soon to set up for a big year next year.

Re: Moloney's Wrist

If it's a long layoff (6+ weeks) this is absolutely TRAGIC news

The guy's been middle of the road player for his whole career and I've really been noticing his workrate and good performances lately.

Hope it's not too serious

Re: Moloney's Wrist

Peter Larkins said on MMM during the game that it was a dislocated shoulder.

Well we do need a new 426 since we lost the other one. :o

On a serious note, hope he can come back and tear it up.

Re: Moloney's Wrist

Looking at the replay dislocated shoulder looks pretty accurate, and it's his taped shouldwe which is never a good thing, I'm sure Moloney would be all for just putting it back in and getting on with it but I think it's more likely to be a 6 week kind of job. Hope it is structually good and he can return for a good month or more this year.

Re: Moloney's Wrist

I was sorry to see Moloney go off injured. Nobody likes to see a player injured.
I also wanted to say your boys played well today despite the "money" tipping a thrashing. Showed plenty of spirit and played hard and accountable footy.
A few things went against you that could easily have got you in front.
OOzes shot that bounced out of the goals square and Wonnaemirri's worm burner both could have gone though so easily.
Also a lot of running shots which just refused to go between the big sticks.
When you're down you're down.
I'm sure it 's only a mater of time for your boys.
Could easily have been us nursing some dented pride.
All the best.

Re: Moloney's Wrist

I dont like putting positive spins on injuries but this is a perfect oppurtunity for Valenti :D

It is a good opportunity for Valenti to have another crack at AFL but I'm shattered for Moloney, was just starting to string some quality games together. Hopefully we can get him back on the park sooner rather than later.

Valenti is practically Moloney minus the angry streak, so its pretty much a straight swap you would think.

Re: Moloney's Wrist

And the experience.

People seem to underrate Moloney's ability around the packs. He is better than just a long bomb and a bit of aggression.

I'd say that Buckley should be back. We need his pace desperately with Davey out.

Re: Moloney's Wrist

Just an update, and it's not good news fellas.

It looks likely that, unless scans show otherwise, Beamer will require season-ending surgery on the shoulder to repair the damage done. It is set to be confirmed later this week.

Apparently Matt Thompson on SEN reported it as Jared Rivers having season ending surgery and then was corrected by the Ox. Bit of an intense moment I would have thought!

Terrible loss. One of the only players in our side who consistently goes in hard for the ball, and tackles. gonna miss him

Matt Thompson has probably just pre-empted the inevitable.

Just stinking bad luck for the young fella. O.P and now this. Terrible news.
I wish Brent all the best and look forward to seeing him play for the Red & Blue next year.
Maloney's misfortune means another young fella gets his chance to impress at senior level.

If Rivers and Moloney are done for the year (long term injury list), why wouldnt we just say we will play our rookies (elevate) and see if they sink or swim. I know we want to be competitive, but to see some of the guys that have been given opportunity after opportunity go around again and not perform woud be a waste of a rare chance you get to effectively do what you do in preseason and experiment without penalty.

Young kids bring enthusiasm, dash and spirit. I reckon a win with youngsters in the main (against Richmond hopefully) would be awesome.

Can anyone tell me who we could pull up for these two long termers??

I know it costs a bit - but "you've got to spend money to make money!"

That thing called the salary cap might make it an issue.
