He didn't look like "Monfries".
What I mean is, his behavior on the ground and his demeanor was completely different.
Usually he would be kind of "Hollywood", and have the sort of eyes that would dart around like he was a kid at a playground... but tonight, he looked way different.
Especially at the end of the game. I've never seen him that happy to win a game before. And I don't mean a full blown celebration - I mean the sort of reserved, quiet personal happiness. The way he pounded the ground and bowed down... it's the kind of thing you see in a dead beat dad who suddenly becomes a caring father.
It was weird.

Congratulations Angus Monfries, I was very critical of you in my first post on the gameday thread, calling for you to be shot or traded to GWS (from memory) after your unforgivable turnover and subsequent Adelaide goal in the first qtr, however after that you fought but brilliantly and in the last qtr you were everywhere getting the hardball/free kick/clearance.
Please let this be the last corner turned and you now have the confidence in yourself and your team mates to start producing consistent top class efforts like tonight.
Essendon is a better team with you firing on all cylinders.... Keep it up![]()

According to my AFL app, he had 22 kicks and 13 handballs, 10 marks, 2 tackles, 1 goal 2.
Played a great game last night and is one of the blokes that ignites the Dons. Used to "hate" this bloke - seemed to always play well against us. Respect him for his honesty as far as staging for free-kicks goes - took guts to come out and say what he did! The "hate" has gone!Waiting for Selwood, Murphy, et al. to come out and say something similar!
