What's your favourite squares on the Monopoly board?? Which properties do you find you have the most luck with??

Is it...

Old Kent Road & Whitechapel Road
The Angel Islington, Euston Road & Pentonville Road
Pall Mall, Whitehall & Northumberland Avenue
Bow Street, Marlborough Street & Vine Street
Strand, Fleet Street & Trafalgar Square
Leicester Square, Coventry Street & Picadilly
Regent Street, Bond Street & Oxford Street
Park Lane & Mayfair
Water Works & Electric Company
The 4 Railway Stations.. Kings Cross, Marleybone, Fenchurch & Liverpool

Cheers!!

I am a legend in my own word in Monopoly. I know dice usually gets you luck, but I know what to buy, when to buy it and etc. I usually buy a road full of streets.

Strand, Fleet Street & Trafalgar Square
Leicester Square, Coventry Street & Picadilly

are usually good options to go for when of course someone else has already got Park Lane or Mayfair. But those two streets of course are the smartest to go. There are only two of them, which means you don't have to spend a SHlT load on houses and hotels. I also like yo buy the rail-way crossings, they are always great value :)

It also deppends on what dice you start with ... If you roll small ones at the start, of course your opponent(s) is/are going to get the higher valued streets first, so you pretty much gotta buy whatever you land on if you start with low numbers and are a few rolls behind your opponent(s)

But I am the king at monopoly, anyone know if you can play it online?

I always seem to get Bow Street, Marlborough Street & Vine Street.

I never get Mayfair and Park Lane  but I like getting the green ones instead...Oxford, Bond & Regent!

I suck at Monopoly anyway! ;)

I take them all!!!!

But i tell you what is good, Old Kent & Whitechapel, only $500 for hotels on both of them, and you'd be suprised how many times people will land on them!

Good way to get started anyway.

BomberGal,

There's nothing wrong with getting Bow Street, Marlborough Street and Vine Street!! I like that set and for only $100 per house, the return when someone lands on them (around $1000 if you have a hotel) is pretty good I reckon!! :):)

Cheers!!

Bond St, Oxford St and Regent St. I usually find if you get these , you are in pretty good shape.
That's because you spend so much time in jail and never land on my favourites, Park Lane & Mayfair.:p :p :p

I'm a fan of the yellow set, myself.

And I like either the ocean liner or cowboy

I agree, sometimes i go out of my way to pick up those streets; cheap to build on and give a good return. Much better than those expensive streets that cause too much grief to build on

THis post is brought to you by the words......"ego" and the word "cocky"

:p :p

I'd kick your ass at monopoly....

The orange group is best.

Firstly, that group provides the highest return for the cost of investment. I read this in a Monopoly strategy book I had when I was a kid.

Secondly, it is the most visited group on the board, as it is 6, 8 and 9 spaces from the most visited square - Gaol.

Anyone of a mathematical bent who has an interest in analysis of the game might get a kick out of this link. Unfortunately the study was based on the (original) American board, so I'm not familiar with the property names, but the colour groups are still the same.

Oh, a third reason for liking the orange group: On the Australian board, this group was the only one based on Adelaide streets. :D

Do you play that you can buy on the first lap around the board and all fines go into the middle to be collected on Free Parking?

I am always the shoe.

Yeah, sometimes. You gotta luv landing on Free Parking after someone has just had street repairs done! $$$$

Totally agree, the orange set is the best and I think my friend has that same book, it has the official rules and etc.

Whenever I play it's what ever you land on you buy and then what ever thats left you buy.

Damn some of the games I play with friends go on all night and sometimes beyond,

Monopoly the best board game ever made.

I agree too. I can't remember the last time I played that the person with the Orange set didn't win.

Has anyone played Simpson's Monopoly? It's gold.

Kudos to SeinDude for a good thread!!

When I first saw this thread, i thought it was going to be a poll asking "What token do you like to play with?"

- Iron
- Car
- Shoe
- Hat

I normally go with the car, although if thats been taken, I try and get the iron and i miss hissing noises when I move a square. Heaps of fun if you include the sound effects!

I love board games. Pity in this day and age (and at my age) nobody wants to play anymore!!

Monopoly is one of the best, also love Cluedo, Pictionary, Scattergories and Trivial Pursuit.

Cluedo is good, but very easy to play with 2-3 ppl.
Pictionary is fantastic and the best thing about Trivial Pursuit is putting the 'cheese slices' in backwards and trying to get them out!
As for Monopoly, i used to play it on my old XT. Great game (although the computer always cheated) :D
