I'm fair and unbiased. I dont like Mooney, I think he played well below his potential and shouldn't even be in the geelong team let alone the AA team due to his inability to kick 100 goals. He needs to go home and pull his finger out.

well, I was surprised Mooney got in, but well, its not like it really matters either. The Cats could have had 0 players in it for all it matters - it would have bene strange but still.

i guess I find it hard to get angry over it like alot of people seem to be :P

It's almost impossible for us Cats fans to actually explain how important he is to our team. He is the heart and soul of the club and his performances alone are great, but we see him as much more than just a forward... therefore, we can't open that second eye enough to FAIRLY rate others ahead of him... sorry!

If you wanna see what he means to the team, watch the emotion he shows when he kicks a big goal. It's not an ego boosting display (like some that I won't mention), it's pure heart, pure love of the club... that's what we feel when he does it too.

Not debating any of that but does that really come into consideration for AA like those selectors wouldn't know the effect he has on your group.

Honestly.. Mooney would have kicked more than 76 which Jonathan Brown kicked if he selfishly kicked goals for himself.. Clever selectors.. he contributed much more than other forward players in my opinion because he gave so many goals away.. that's why he was selected..
I know that it was a suprise all 9 geelong players were selected but htey all deserve.. I think. really enjoyed the presentation.. Go Cats!!:D

You're missing the point, if you want unbiased... you're in the wrong place.

I think Mooney has had his best year by far and alot of his work goes unrecognised by alot of opposition fans. He deserves his AA sport BUT i thort the other players were very unlucky and i honestly didnt have mooney in my aa team

if Lucas and Riewoldt had such great years, then both those sides would have made the finals

but they didn't - they had flashes of brilliance, and flashes in the pan. Lucas can be as cold skillswise and demoralising for his teammates as Fevola. Riewoldt hasn't been a match winner this year because he couldn't finish with goals

Mooney had an outstanding and consistent season as the talisman and spearhead of the number 1 team and was rewarded.

Can understand reservations because his very best may be below others mentioned, but those players didn't have a great 2007 season and that was the selection criteria - NOT REPUTATION!!!

Pretty surprised he made it, really. He was, arguably, the one player out of the nine with the biggest argument against his selection, probably.

As a Geelong supporter, I'm proud of him and what he's achieved (probably moreso given where he was before this year), and I'll pick-up the arguments for his selection, but stepping back into neutral land for one second, let's just say he didn't make the AA team I scratched together last night..

Silly me, I was looking around on the main board for the thread from a whinging Hawks fan that Franklin didn't get selected, and here it was on our own board the whole time. Doesn't really matter what we think, we don't get to select the AA team, otherwise there probably would've been more than 9 Cats in it, Mackie was robbed not to get nominated! ;)

if franklin had of kicked straight he would've made AA, it's his own fault but thats what you get with him. and the person who said lucas and riewoldt played in teams that didn't make finals should have no bearing on selection, its the one thing in AFL that can promote individualism, yes it helps to be in a winning team but that is not a basis to not select someone.

Seriously your club has an ego problem... and don't have a hope in hell of getting a premiership with the like's of Crawford, Lewis, Hodge and Mitchell leading the club.

i was surprised he got into the AA team....probably in my mind the only questionable choice.....he's great for us but i think a lot of other players (lucas for one) may have deserved it more....but anyway im not a selector and obviously the selctors picked who they thought were the best team and in their minds he deserved to be there, so congrats to him!

Buddy? Yes
Rievoldt? Yes
Richo? Yes
Lucus? No.

I think most do in fact underestimate the efforts of Moondog this year.

Having said that, Scott Lucus was fantastic. Had very ordinary delivery into the forward line, competing for ball with Lloyd and still played very well.

Moons probably got the gig because he played in a great side this year.

Mooney played a pivotal and consistent role in probably every game this year. No offence, but I doubt you'd have seen them all.

Buddy was inconsistent but promising, Rooie out for part of it from memory and variable, Richo gave his all but it was hard to look good playing for Richmond this year and Lucas was very good, but went quiet for a fair few games. That's what I reckon anyway.
