Doesn't usually work like that. Quite often the original senders email won't show up in the senders field. That's why a lot of them say "do not reply to this email". I received one a few years ago which came up as being from myself. They're usually routed through poor unsuspecting fools who have spyware and trojans on there systems without knowing it.
