What is it that im not seeing with wood?

i watch the games. and although i see hes not getting anywhere near half the taps, the taps he does get are about a 50/50 shot at being too advantage and there have been a few very classy taps down the throat of wellingham whos run straight into a goal. (god i love it when he does that) however around the ground i think woods matched every comer... i mean against minson this board went into meltdown wanting his head... however again around ground i thought he was more then adequate. everyone says he doesnt give 110% but hes not a small guy and for him to get too 100% of contests is a ridiculous ask, especially from a player who (by ruckman ages and maturity) is still on the right side of 25.

It's not so much what Wood is doing (because he's been alright), it's more what he isn't doing. He's often letting his opponent run loose and then on the rebound he's not damaging up forward. This could be the way Malthouse is instructing him to play but he's not being dominant in his games like Jolly can be. In my view it's not like Wood is playing poorly, but Jolly is one of the top ruckmen in the league when fully fit and Wood has a way to go to get there himself so the difference is quite noticeable.

Pendles by some margin. We're winning games fine now without Jolly... 2009 final series minus Pendlebury anyone?

Hard one because I think Travis Cloke is just as important Darren Jolly.

The number one contested marking player in the comp by a mile and is on track to smash last year's tally where he also led the comp in this stat.

Come finals time and in close/crunch games, the ability to be able to have an out option such as Cloke is ultra important because you can just about guarantee he will clunk almost everything that goes his way.
