Had enough trash talk.
I know today was terrible and fortunately I didn't go. Want this thread to answer the problems we have, rather than lay blame and look at the negatives.

What needs to happen for us to make the most out of 2003?
Is there anything we could take out of today or is it best just forgotten?

Of course there is a few positives moving forward but it is easy to let the emotion of such a loss cloud them. The main one for me is the senior football opportunities we are giving on younger group.
Players like Power, McMahon, McGuinness, Skipper and Harris might not have yet been given a real go if we had a full list so for me I think the experience they gain will be a huge positive for us in the future.
Other players like Hahn, Gilbee and Bowden from Clayton's first draft effort have really stepped up which is another positive.

Agree Doc. THose young blokes will now have to take responsibility and that will be good for their future.

Frightening - especially since I called you Doc!!!:D

I'm pretty pessimistic watching the games but once the contest is over (before half time today) I get positive. Despite my upbringing I believe we'll get there eventually. Gilbee has really taken responsibility and McGuiness and Harris did today. Power improved and is finding his place. We'll get there!

Yeah, Ill give a wrap to McGuiness. His disposal was questionable at times, but he seems prepared to put his body in for spoils. He seems to be a bit of a live wire - the anti-bowdow? When we get hargy and kritter and robbo and crofty and smithy back maybe there is a spot for him up forward?

Write-off the season now and therefore give the young guys NB talls good time & opportunities on the park, even when we get back some of our injured players. Good example now is give Bruton a good run.

Establish a real game plan and play to it, whatever the outcome, rather than defaulting to old habits.

Make Brian Harris captain. ;)

On a performance like today's its hard for me to find any positives....

Kmac won a fair bit of the footy and worked hard for the most part. Gilbee was solid and like others have stated Power, Harris et al are getting a bit more of an opportunity (ableit unfortunate circumstances). Not enough positives, I am pretty shattered at the moment.

Yeah, that could just about be it though. The year is a write off,so I'll be happy to see Harris, Skipper etc just improve and provide some reason to look forward to the future. I think they will.

POSITIVES

Harris, big and strong and kicked a couple of goals so potentially he can play both ends. He is not going to be a star, but that doesn't matter to me, I will be happy with servicable and solid.

Patrick Bowden

Kieran McGuiness. Should be playing forward.

Boyd. Looks likely

Robert Murphy.

Mitch Hahn and Lindsay Gilbee fought it out.

Hard to find positives out of an absolute debacle, however I was impressed with Gilbee and Hahn, they gave as much as they copped.

Power was good in a few passages of play and should really establish himself this season.
I don't believe that K-Mac is a defender, better utilised forward.

Boyd showed commitment and hardness, good first up effort. Harris also showed that he is capable at the top level.

Other than that a baron wasteland.

Looking forward to some low draft picks for a change.

Potential forward line to include Harris, Bowden and Kmac. Reasonable height, Harris forces a contest and has some strength, have previously seen Kmac lead out and take some grabs (game last season??) and Bowden shows he can kick them, though it seems if theres opposition within a metre or two he's not too interested (am I being harsh?).
Pretty inexperienced though - and at the moment there's a shortage of talls down back, is that the only reason for Kmac playing there, or do people think he's better defender than forward.

K-MAC is about 188 cm and that height,if possible, should be playing forward. His first game against Essendon was a beauty.
I suppose when Kretiuk and Croft return he might go forward.
Carlton's backline is their achilles heel and Rohde should try and exploit this.

Who do u think is in with a chance this week against the blues???

Agreed that the boys playing for werribee arent ready to play senior footy at the moment...but wot other choice is there???

Bruton could be put in to replace bandy...

Birssy wont be ready this week so ive heard...

Maybe colby or Brad murphy??? There arent too many other options
