Did he deserve to get dropped?

A question that should be asked, yet all followers of the Collingwood Football Club would have seen this coming. It was only in 2002 we saw one of the premier defenders in the making, as J.Cloke was the best young defender in the league. 2003 was a strong season, unless he was put forward, but it was the 2003 Grand Final that ruined the career of the promising backman.

2004 was a bad season for Jason Cloke, despite the fact he did have some top games. Season was looking bad this year, but got his chance by MM (the man that ruined his promising career). The match against the Sainters saw him fight for his career, and he was close to, if not best on ground at half time, and by the end of the match, he had 'towelled' saint strong forward Aaron Hamill, and was by far the best player for the Pies.

Last week he was one of 22 players who had a bad day. Everyone would (and should) agree. But the man who fought so hard the previous week who tried yet couldn't come away with an individual honours, has now lost his spot in the team.

Thanks Mick for doing everything possible to ruin Jason Cloke's career first time around, and now ruin his comeback to senior AFL Footy.

How did playing him up forward damage his career as a defender.

Isn't more the case that C1 first played as a loose defender without having any one on him, which gave him plenty of room to move around in and he didn't need to be accountable for any one.
He was very good at being the third man up, coming over the top of forwards, chasing down loose balls and all because he didn't have to worry about picking any one up.

Opposition coaches worked out was MM was doing and decided to play a fast leading forward on C1.
C1 is not the quickest and his overhead skills are only average.

Opposition coaches now in fact play through the player that is assigned to Cloke.
Should C1's lack of pace and skills be blamed on MM

Nobody has answered the question, only criticised my statement, which I respect.

Yes, Whisky and Hoggy - he was more of a third man up, but he was damaging to other teams. 'Premier' was a word i overused, but needed some adjective to back up my love for him.

His career was ruined. One time experimenting didn't work, but the second, third, fourth and fifth times were just stupid. He was a defender, and played his best footy there.

He wasn't the best, but, he certainly did not deserve to be dropped after trying to ressurect his senior career.

Life is full of those little disappointments isn't it.

You want,
I want,
we want,
but no one ever answers us.

I hope you get some good rest tonight and maybe things will become clearer for you in the morning

You come back from your little vacation this week and target me because I said Buckley MAY retire this year!

What the hell is wrong with you. I asked a question, but you obviously can't answer a simple question because I am assuming you didn't see the St.Kilda game.

Go back in your hole, util you have a decent approach to a question, or post, instead of the little game of targeting people because you don't have a clue!

You will never get a fair and honest assessment about any of the Clokes from supporters of Collingwood, or opposition supporters as they seem to be the most hated players in the league.

Who gives ******** what others think, the Clokes will be playing senior footy long after the **************** ruining their career has been sacked

I want you ....... i waaaaaaaaaant you
I need you......... i neeeeeeeeeeed you

But there aint no way ... i`m ever gonna love you
but don`t be sad ..... doooooon`t beeee saaaad coz

Two out of three , aint bad

To simply answer your question LF50 no he didn't deserve to be dropped and neither did Yakka. C1 had 21 mates with him last week when he didn't perform so for him to be targeted was harsh because he was one of our best against the saints.

The answer I was looking for, but it seems everone else have no idea who this J Cloke of 2005 actually is, or has never seen him play in this year.

Are people saying that j cloke didnt deserve to be dropped.

Didnt he have about 10 ********en goals kicked on him last week.

He's a ********en dud. plain and simple.

The sooner we ******** him off the better.

no, J Cloke has done all right, but not best

I think MM is just stupid, J Cloke has already had enough of this crap

The other clokes(Dav,Cam,Trav0 can play up forward, Jason can't, he's a defender, and does all right, don't let him go like that MM!

At least he puts some strength in the team. Clement, Presti and Wakelin are all soft players. Clement has good skills but he is not going break packs open. As for Wakelin, he never gets the key forwards. Why did Cloke have to go onto Gehrig and Pavlich, shouldnt that have been Wakelins job. Cloke maybe not the most talented player but he gets the marks. 15 in 2 games. How many has wakelin and Presti got this year.

I ask you this, LF50.

Who is his matchup this week?

He's too short to go with Richo, Stafford, Simmonds.
He's too slow to play on Pettifer, Krakouer, Brown.
As comical as it would be, he's not a midfielder.
And we all know how well he goes as a forward.

Now, unless we can isolate him as a third man up - which no coach is stupid enough to continue to allow - he has no role this week.

He was good two weeks ago because Aaron Hamill is the forward equivalent of Jason Cloke. He has few, if any, other matchups with other clubs that suit him.

DING DING DING DING, We have a winner, exactly my point. Totally agree.

Yeah, I get where you are coming from, but he didn't DESERVE to be dropped. Wakelin should have been dropped before him if they were going along the discipline rule. It was so good a fortnight ago to see J Cloke playing for his career, and he was clearly our best player. Last week he didn't stop trying, and that is a true statement. Matthew Pavlich kicked 3 on him in the forst quarter, which was unacceptable but he still tried. McPharlin is clearly a hard match up inside the forward line. He leaps and is probably the best contested mark for a defender, and have that inside a forward line. He was clearly beaten. 8 goals kicked on him last week.

The fact that Clement may pick up Brown, would allow Cloke as the third tall on Simmonds, as Wakelin will get Stafford. It doesn't matter. The duo of Stafford, Simmonds and Richo will be on fire, as will the crumbs of Krakouer, the forward line endurance and improved skills of Pettifer while the skills of goal hungry Nathan Brown will top it off.

Anyway, In all seriousness...Just hope the Fremantle v Collingwood game at Subiaco was not Jason's last game at AFL Level.

Hahaha, yeah good one too bad the carbon rod doesn't do any thing.

Are you serious, what the hell have you been watching? Presti gets the number one forward every week and rearly gets beaten. Killed Lloyd a while back before he got injured. What more do you want, a reliable full back that rearely ges beaten. Not many teams have one of these.

Where you on drugs when you said that Wakelin is soft? How many ********ing times do you see him back into packs. He get's belted as much as brodie Holland does. Very tough player, you are a tool.

As for Clement, he is a dead set legend. He played on in the Freo game last year after suffering a supressed cheek bone fracture, then missed one week I think If that. Hmm yeah what a big softy.

How many times do presti and wakelin get beaten out right despite our shocking midfield.

Totally agree, just a few add ons.

Presti...and beat Fraser Gehrig before going off. Has been great this year, something I wanted.

Clement...what a star in that match. Not only played the rest of the match. He got bumps, didn't back out of a contest, continued to go in hard. True inspiration and was close to Best On Ground in that match. A Legend.

re: goalpie

Your statement was ridiculous, ludicris, completely lacking of logic.
