In an age when players are getting paid large salaries to play footy, they are also trained in dealing with the media, look what happens very regularly.

All this media training is useless when you make the basic boo boo of mouthing off about a player or team you are going to meet that week.

He may be right in his comments about Croad but I know Schwab (eastern version) will be livid as this is easy ammunition for the opposition. I'd suggest not letting Lekkas down back.

Let's hope Croad lift's and this raises the whole team. Me thinks some players on the ground will be having a quiet word or two in Mr Lekkas's "shell like".

Croady should feel at home at York Park, because being a Kiwi, they're like Tasmanians, aren't they?.

Dockers by 14 points.

i have a funny feeling about this game. If our skill level improves we we get a good start I think we will go very close to beating them.

Go Freo!

Not commenting on the result of the game - I'm not gonna mouth off about this one.

However, I read that Connolly and Icke are going to use this article as motivation for Croad. Seriously, if they are using a blown up piece of crap like that motivation, you have to wonder about Trent's thinking.

Lekkas didn't come out and blast him. He didn't say anything that Hawthorn (or opposition) supporters didn't already know, or that the Hawthorn coaching staff didn't already know, or that Trent probably didn't know - that he wasn't sticking to the game plan and team rules. Wow, I know I'm in deep shock.

What did they expect Lek to say? "Yeah, we should never have traded Trent, we're screwed without him."

Anyway, and this is from watching Trent in big games, he usually tries too hard. He'll lead too hard and end up under the ball, he'll attack the ball too hard when in space and overrun it or fumble, he'll get the ball and he'll run too far and get in trouble, he'll kick it 60 metres without looking and picking a target. Then he'll get frustrated and lose his temper and focus on the man rather than the ball.

Most will be thinking he will fire up and play a blinder - I think he'll have a quiet one.

Anyway, good luck for tomorrow, but don't beat us. Pretty please.

Interesting - I've noticed that too. Do you think it can be trained out of someone? Croad is relatively young.

I think that's the question that will decide whether Trent Croad will become a bona fide star, or remain a player with potential.

By the way, Hodge kicked three goals today. One from a 60 metre set shot, and one from 50 out. Thanks. ;)

McPharlin is going back to the reserves this week I think.
So much for not playing this season.

And Polak should be back in a few weeks.
Hitman if your suggesting that it was a bad deal on teh dockers side your mistaken.
As in the end we got our first preference neway

I never said it was. I just don't think it is as good a deal as you think. Anyway, I was just pointing out Hodge. Obviously we got who we wanted, as we had number one, right?

It all depends on how deep you want to look into the situation.
I could just as easily say that for
Croad and McPharlin we missed out on Sampi.
As we got our first preference.
2 strong key position players for a flashy forward pocket?
Along with drafting the best key position player in the league points to Freo doin well.

Hitters I know its early but have you seen Judd and does he look to be the one that got away.

What did we trade for? Number one. We got it, and we picked who we wanted. Hodge hasn't played seniors, and you are gonna base that Judd is the 'one that got away' based on one senior game?

You will need at least one year to see which out of Hodge, Judd, and Ball are the best. Two are on OP programs, and Judd is fully fit.

The Dockers snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Shocking....

Shows just how little you know there you witless, unimaginative fool... using that tired old line in such an inappropriate situation. ie: Coming from 26 points down in the third to getting 8 points up with seven minutes on the clock is hardly a case for snatching defeat.

"Falling at the last hurdle" or "Failing to get over the line... again"
are more suitable well worn cliches that would at least given your post a trace of substance...

Sounds allot like the eagles vs collingwood game.

Collingwood was in front for about 97% of the entire game so i cant see how the eagles stole defeat

It doesn't matter about what happened out there at York Park. The hawks won a close match and I can tell you that the Dockers are going to be tough when the hawks play them at Subiaco in round18.

From memory Froe Dorkers swapped draft picks No 1, 20 & 36 for Croad & McPharlin, whilst these two are going to be handy, it is still 3 top draft choices given up in the best ever draft.

by the way, I'm not a Dawkes supporter but from all accounts & they are very strong sources, Hodge was the stand out for No 1 choice, will be a gun, agressive & skilled with a huge left foot kick, can play on ball or up forward where ha can take a strong mark.

Judd would have gone No 2 if it wasn't for his two shoulder reconstructions, but it seems to be over them now, & playing good footy.
