I was a a huge fan of these shows, and remain a fan of picking up DVD's CD's of these sets.

Some really fantastic sets in the collection, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Korn, but without a doubt my favourite would be Alice in Chains. Three years since they last played, and one of the last times Staley would be seen playing alive. Notably weak and sick, Staley and the gang give a massively powerful emotive performance.

Anyone else miss good unplugged sessions?

Feel free to post songs :)

The Nirvana Unplugged session was probably my favourite, showed a whole other side to the band and some of their acoustic versions were better than the originals.

Stone Temple Pilots were great as well, again it was great to see a band like that in a more relaxed setting.

I really enjoyed Nirvana's. They obviously gave their song selection a lot of thought instead of just going through their hits which made it feel much less gimmicky.

Was it a grunge thing?

How hearding these bands accoustic, raw, with the pure emotion (why is that word now dirty) in their voices in the dark small setting just perfect?

Or is it just that I like grunge?

Where would I be able to get my hands on a copy of Stone Temple Pilots and Alice In Chains?!

That would be amazing

im not a fan of AIC but their unplugged show is highly regarded as one of the great emotive performances.

i cant go past nirvanas as a performance. kurt tearing it up in his dead yak cardigan. the ending to where did you sleep where he pauses and takes a breath before the final line is spine tingling.

i like bon jovis show from 2007 aswell. a good rendition of hallelujah is included on that.

alanis' isnt bad either.

pearl jams is great, but unfortunately came at a time when they only had 1 album of tunes to pick from, so the setlist is rather predictable. it does however, have amazing versions of oceans, black and porch. dave abbruzzeze shouldve used brushes instead of sticks and really needed to town down his obsessive use of cymbals for an acoustic show. despite this, i love the show and it was great to finally have it released officially last year on dvd.

Scott Weiland's voice is incredibly under-rated.

Pity he dug the smack so much. :(

I have an amazing version of Interstate Love Song on my pc and his voice is so scratchy and raw, hungover, drug fueled and sleep deprived but absolutely perfect.

Not from these MTV sessions...

Eric Clapton and Nirvana's were the most classic

Alice in Chains - brother and no excuses used to always listen to as well

I was slightly disappointed with Pearl Jam's back in the day if I recall correctly

Was never a fan of Bon Jovi but was at the right age and time, that clip is pretty cool though. Sambora is an undeniably fine guitarist and the real muscle behind what made them huge.

Credit where credit is due, and that is one fine performance.
The story behind it is pretty cool too. Jon and Richie came to the MTV management with the concept and the dweebs at MTV were scared that it would take all the momentum out of the show and be a real buzz kill.

Jon fought for it and they said ok. It not only turned out to be the moment of the show but turned into one of their biggest cash cows. I hope the people who were deadset against it no longer have a job in the music industry.

Plant and Page did a show.

God they're fantastic.
Not sure if it was an official MTV one but Led Zep did a show called Led Zeppelin: Unledded. It had the title No Quarter.

Not really a dashboard fan, mainly because I want to punch Chris Caraba in the face and i'm not really an emo fan, but I enjoy their hands down unplugged, and the drummer is good and looks like Seth Cohen.
