Tim Holobowski's a multiple B&F at Rams and three-time premiership player, plus there's young Alex Hay who had a good season at Benalla last year. And then all the others like Lumber from Blighty, Gilligan from Jerilderie and Jack Lloyd (brother of Sam) back up forward which adds depth - the main thing Deni was lacking last year.
Roughly what would an median A grade player cost a club per year ?wow the murray league seems to be getting stronger and stronger. Perhaps I can also help with this. I have just been appointed regional manager for ricky Nixon's MyFootyAgent.com
we have quite a few players looking for new clubs. its free for players to register and a yearly fee of $350 for clubs which gives unlimited recruiting. We also have a secret pool of A grade players looking for new clubs. Message me for further details

Can someone please tell me about Mitch Sidebottom from Congupna?Roughly what would an median A grade player cost a club per year ?
The big Moo was on big money at congupna in 2013, then took a pay chop last season.. Goes pretty good ruckman that can go forward and kick a couple.. I'd say he'd be wanting 800.. That sound rite...Can someone please tell me about Mitch Sidebottom from Congupna?
I'm from a club in Bendigo and we met with him last week and he was asking a fair bit of $$$.
He said he was probably the number 1 ruckman in the league last year but his fox sports results say otherwise... Anyone tell me if he's any good or not?
deni to improve but a few getting carried away with recruits holo,Whelan,Lloyd, morris, have not set the world on fire over last 12 months but howe good return and Gilligan also . think a lot of other sides recruited more
Velvet sledge don't play deni down they have the youngest and best side if they can keep this group together it could be many years of successI think Deni will improve alright, dont think too many are getting ahead of themselves. I think there is more excitement around the club with the return of some "locals", but having some guys wanting to prove themselves is just as exciting i think. They still have to gel and play as a team for any success. Think this season could be just as even as last year which is great for us spectators.
Has lodged a clearance to Lorne. Can anyone shed any light on this?My belief was that he was coaching the U/17s as he is recovering from injury, and was only an outside chance to play himself in the 2nd half of the season.

That aside, he's been one of the better suburban/country footballers in the state for a long time. His best is unstoppable. His best football is well behind him, had a very ordinary year last year. Good luck to Mulwala dealing with his SH&@ on and off the field. The guy is a strange unit from all reports couldn't care less about his team mates, it's all about him!!
Salary cap would be great but given that all payments are cash under the table it would be ineffective.Anyone on here support a salary cap/ point system ?
Be happy to see a points system trialled, but whatever is done probably needs to be Australia wide, otherwise the first neighbouring league that doesnt have to work within the same parameters will have a distinct advantage.Anyone on here support a salary cap/ point system ?

How would it work for local players?
Edit: never mind. After thinking about it I think it's a terrible idea. Some teams develop there juniors into success some team simply can't and need to recruit. I have no problems with teams signing big names players on huge coin. Looks what has happen to Cobram and Toc. It's a big risk. Then on the flip side look what had happened with Rumba in the short term. Them winning the flag is awesome for the leg.
I know my local cricket club has one, depending on the standard of the league the recruits are from determines the amount of points they're worth. And for every year they stay at the same club, their value drops 1 point. That seems an effective way to field your locals because that then creates room for big recruits.
But definitely something needs to happen soon. I know the Ballarat regional sides have a limit of 2 VFL players per game, that too of course has it's pro's and con's.
Recruit the right guys and ur club with be better off in the future.
Anyone on here support a salary cap/ point system ?
I think this is key Hank. Something needs to happen because the current state of football in general in regards to payments is ridicules and seriously getting out of had. But what ever is rolled out needs to be blanket rulings Australia wide with the exception of say the state leagues, and perhaps the top 3 leagues in each state...........Be happy to see a points system trialled, but whatever is done probably needs to be Australia wide, otherwise the first neighbouring league that doesnt have to work within the same parameters will have a distinct advantage.
Three biggest problems in country footy are
1. Money ,to many players want more than there worth
2. Drugs, footy or other positive things used to give people the HIGH they needed now to many are wanting the artificial high , they are playing Russian roulette with their lives
3. To few do to much, footy rely on volunteers week in week out . Not enough to share the load
I agree but young footballers have got to realise trades last for 50 years footy might last for 10Yes, but started by clubs paying too much.
YES!
Yes and the more money is spent badly the less people will bother to volunteer. it's annoying when kids get in some cases more for playing footy than in their jobs especially if they are apprentices. So in a way it also undervalues real work.
Any truth to tongala recruit Ryan butler out for the season and Paulo Newman doin a injury satdy in cricket...I agree but young footballers have got to realise trades last for 50 years footy might last for 10
Butler snapped his Achilles, had surgery won't play this season , not sure about Newman had lots of injuries in the last couple of years at ky though.Any truth to tongala recruit Ryan butler out for the season and Paulo Newman doin a injury satdy in cricket...
Correct on Butler, even the Free Mess was over that! Paulo is flying and was leading the way Monday and Wednesday night!!Any truth to tongala recruit Ryan butler out for the season and Paulo Newman doin a injury satdy in cricket...
