Just thought it would be interesting to make a thread where we can track people's MVP chances throughout the season.
At the moment, my top 10 would be:
1. Steve Nash - 17.2ppg, 2.6rpg, 11.9apg (Team record: 10-2)
He's the main reason the Suns are doing so well this season. I don't expect them to keep it up, but credit to Nash for their great start.
2. Carmelo Anthony - 29.9ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.0apg (Team record: 8-3)
He gets the nod at number 2 ahead or Kobe and Dirk because his supporting cast isn't as good, and he's still helped them to a great record.
3. Dirk Nowitzki - 26.3ppg, 9.0rpg, 2.8apg (Team record: 8-3)
I'm personally not a big fan but there is no denying the fact he has been phenomenal in some matches this season.
4. Kobe Bryant - 31.0ppg, 4.8rpg, 2.9apg (Team record: 8-3)
With the supporting cast that Kobe has, I'm surprised they've already lost three matches, which is why Kobe is down at number 4.
5. Joe Johnson - 23.0ppg, 5.6rpg, 4.8apg (Team record: 10-2)
Johnson is finally starting to get some credit for the Hawks great start to the season. If they continue to play like this, he could move even higher, but I still don't think he's been as good as the players above.
6. LeBron James - 27.8ppg, 7.0rpg, 8.0apg (Team record: 8-4)
He's the best player in the league, but until his team stops losing, it'll be hard for LeBron to win back to back MVP's. Hopefully the team can get on a run soon.
7. Dwight Howard - 18.7ppg, 10.7rpg, 1.8bpg (Team record: 9-3)
I don't think he's playing as well as last year yet, mainly because he hasn't had to do as much and hasn't had to carry the team like he has in the past. He has a big shot at winning if his team stays strong and he increases his output.
8. Dwyane Wade - 28.9ppg, 4.7rpg, 5.2apg (Team record: 7-4)
Again, I don't think he's playing as well as last season, but he'll remain a top contender for this award all season if his team keeps playing well.
9. Brandon Jennings - 25.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 5.5rpg (Team record: 6-3)
I may cop some flak for putting Jennings on this list, but there is no denying that he is the main reason that Milwaukee is currently sitting 5th in the East with a great record, plus he is putting up phenomenal numbers for a rookie. If they make the playoffs, he is a lock for ROY.
10. Brandon Roy - 20.3ppg, 4.9rpg, 5.1apg (Team record: 8-4)
The ultra consistent Roy is again helping his team to one of the top records in the league, and will probably stay on this list for nearly the whole season.
Unlucky:
Kevin Durant (if the team gets over .500 he should make the list)
Chris Bosh (would be very high if his team was better)
Danny Granger (dominant in a reasonable team but just misses out)
Paul Pierce (the Celtics don't rely on one player, they are all valuable)
Deron Williams (the main thing keeping the Jazz alive)
