Any tips for not getting absolutely owned?

I think my k/d ration is like 1:3 lol. Not that I really care too much, but woul dbe nice to get better.

Is it pretty much just practice, considering i only got it a few days ago and dint play cod4?

Yeah it's hard to get better quickly, a lot comes down to reflexes which you either have or don't.

Main thing is to not put yourself in positions where your back and flanks are going to exposed for extended periods, ie, running across wide expanses, or down a corridor, these are just killing fields for noobs. If you are caught in the open get to cover as quick as you can...dash from cover to cover. Lay right down in the grass if you're in strife.

For a start try not to move heaps, be patient, stay around a certain area of a map where you feel comfortable and can't be snuck up on too easy. You don't have to camp, ie, lie in one spot, but you can certainly cover an area which only has a couple of entries. Once you pick a few guys off, more will come...and you'll be waiting.

Running around as a noob you'll just die a lot

I was getting smashed pretty bad when I first started, but a lot of that was due to running around like I had just done a few lines and that is almost certain death after death.

I've also played a few levels on vet, that is a great way to improve your aim and reflexes.. because if someone pops up and you don't kill him quickly you are dead.. pretty much the same as online. Tonight I have played a lot better, still racking up a lot of deaths.. my K : D will never be above 1... but not as many stupid deaths plus I am getting a lot of kills along the way.

But Juddy I just noticed that you only just got the game and didn't play COD4 so you are starting well back and it is bloody tough at times, just keep playing and soon enough it will click.

Cheers, managed to get my kdr up to .5 from .3 lol.

Starting to get the hang of it, managed to get an Aus host and green bars so played on that for about 2 hrs, good fun.

Lol at the dude who has a 730 kill streak!! How is that even possible?!?:eek:

I've made a little subtle to my style, and it might be handy to try if you have to deal with a little bit of lag.

I'm using the L86 LMG almost exclusively now, kills in 2-3 hits with stopping power on, so pretty deadly. I have bling on, and equipped it with a grip and red dot. With that combo it has very manageable recoil, and with short bursts is very very accurate over long distance, i get long range bonuses with this gun a lot.

I usually have steady aim equipped, and when i encounter an enemy in close/medium range, i hover the crosshair over them from the hip and start firing, but at the same time i hit aim and bring the gun up to my eye. I then paint the target, by just slowly waggling the look stick side to side, maybe a body width either side while firing constantly.

Aiming at chest height you will pretty much always get the 2-3 hits needed to kill very quickly, and you often get a headshot due to the slight shot spread the gun has. Lag generally does not affect your chances of a kill, because you're putting out a solid stream of lead much bigger than the target so you'll still get hits registering, you don't have to be as accurate as an assault rifle.

The mag for the L86 holds 100 rounds, and you get another 100 in your loadout...heaps! So don't worry about expending 10-15 rounds with each kill. Reloads are spread out, and given the L86 uses a drum mag, is quite quick.

I stayed up late last night (like 3am) and was obviously getting mainly yellow and red pings. But despite the lag, being half smashed, and having eyelids made of stone i was still at worst breaking even. Thats a definate improvement for me with just a simple change

this + AA12 for close quarters works very well

thanks mance

I might give that a try later on.

I've also heard good things about the AUG HBAR. It's basically a LMG with high mobility and short reload times.

Also a good gun, i've been switching between the L86 and AUG since i unlocked it actually.

The mobility is good, but the quicker reloads are sorta cancelled out by the fact the mag is heaps smaller than the L86 imo.

The L86 is also really easy to reload cancel as well, which cuts its reloads times by a heap (about a third). It's acog is horrible tho, has like a needle instead of a crosshair

when playing tactical -always use cover, check both ways before you cross.

When rushing - flank and know the choke points of the map

/Hax on

Run around killing 12yo ******s since nobody worth a damn plays this game anymore.

Enemy Shooting any where in your vicinity with Sniper Rifle = You Dead
You shooting enemy with sniper rifle = Enemy still alive

Haha, so true. Tho i did steal someones sniper rifle the other day (after he died) and actually got 2 kills until i used all the ammo. The movie sniper made it look so much easier.

Actually, the sniper rifle works well when you run around and use it as an assault rifle, well for everyone else anyway.

Complain like a bitch when you get killed by a guy with a toob for the 300th time, if that fails play some britney spears into your mike to flush them out.

BAck on topic, was in a team death match last night and usually everyone in your team scatters. Last night we all held position in the house, obviously at different sides to avoid all being wiped out by a single noob tube, and to cover all the entrances.

Even one time, i ran out of ammo, and had to jump out the window to get some more ammo from a guy i just killed and some american dude on my team tells me not to worry cos he had my back. He shot someone who was about to knife me, then i went back in the house and we continued killing enemy soldiers. Now thats Team Death Match.

Back when I played this piece of shit with my clan all 8 of us would select our tac knife setup and maintain a tight group, we were like a plauge of locusts. We have all switched back to COD4 until blackops comes out.

look awesome but completely useless

but whenever my teams on 7400 i throw it half way across the map hoping for the miracle kill

Yup, been on the wrong end of one of those. I'm the blue line, enemy threw the knife roughly from where the red line is, it bounced once and connected with a direct hit. After the game was finished he was in raptures about it, asking who it was he took out. Said it was me and told him it was probably the luckiest thing i'd ever been a part of.

But as for tactics, i took some advice on board from the other MW2 thread and have had some great success with C4 around the flags in domination. Probably get around 2 kills a game or so. It's great. :thumbsu:

Very effective isn't it :D:D

Use tactical button layout, it helps your game alot. Another thing is when running and gunning make sure to hide behind objects to stay hidden

Another thing is to use low killstreaks if you can't continuously get high killstreaks. Use something like UAV, Predator and Harrier
