If we're into sending disgruntled letters to The Club, then here's mine...
Hello Brian,
I corresponded with you last year voicing my perceived disappointment at Port Adelaide's choice of guernsey for AFL Heritage weekend. On that occasion you were professional enough to personally contact me to point out the errors in my thinking, (and quite rightly as the result was spectacular).
Once again I hope I am wrong but the rumblings that I am hearing from within the club indicate otherwise. In my position, like yourself, I travel interstate quite often. This gives me the opportunity to visit many clubs around the country. Let me assure you, the recent renovations at The Port Club are on par with most of what I have seen. Therein lies the problem, it now also looks like most of them, luxurious, generic and sterile.
I always intended to wait until it was finished before voicing any disapproval. Unfortunately this now seems to be the case.
I ask:
Where are the Magpie player photos?
Why can I not enjoy both a beer and our premiership tradition at the same time? (Not that I wish to eat or drink in the Power Gear Shop)
With so many walls crying out to have some character added to them, why is there so little to look at/talk about with my fellow members?
Etc, etc...?
Like the Port Adelaide Football Club, I don't wish to live in the past but I don't want to dismiss it either.
It is my desire that you could find some time in your busy schedule to address the above before moving on to other challenges, because where once we were surrounded by success, we now are surrounded by luxury.
Best of luck and best wishes for your future endeavours,
Kind Regards,
