If we're into sending disgruntled letters to The Club, then here's mine...

Hello Brian,

I corresponded with you last year voicing my perceived disappointment at Port Adelaide's choice of guernsey for AFL Heritage weekend. On that occasion you were professional enough to personally contact me to point out the errors in my thinking, (and quite rightly as the result was spectacular).

Once again I hope I am wrong but the rumblings that I am hearing from within the club indicate otherwise. In my position, like yourself, I travel interstate quite often. This gives me the opportunity to visit many clubs around the country. Let me assure you, the recent renovations at The Port Club are on par with most of what I have seen. Therein lies the problem, it now also looks like most of them, luxurious, generic and sterile.

I always intended to wait until it was finished before voicing any disapproval. Unfortunately this now seems to be the case.
I ask:
Where are the Magpie player photos?
Why can I not enjoy both a beer and our premiership tradition at the same time? (Not that I wish to eat or drink in the Power Gear Shop)
With so many walls crying out to have some character added to them, why is there so little to look at/talk about with my fellow members?
Etc, etc...?

Like the Port Adelaide Football Club, I don't wish to live in the past but I don't want to dismiss it either.

It is my desire that you could find some time in your busy schedule to address the above before moving on to other challenges, because where once we were surrounded by success, we now are surrounded by luxury.

Best of luck and best wishes for your future endeavours,

Kind Regards,

good letter - spot on.

I know plenty of people annoyed that the place now looks like an RSL club, and not the home of the Port Adelaide FC.

I don't want to see pictures of far flung landscapes...i wanna see Premiership photos...memorabilia and i want others to walk into the Port Club and be blown away with Port's history and success..that deosnt happen at the moment, no matter how tasteful the decor.

the fact you dont see those things should be telling you something...

possibly both the PAPFC and the PAMFC see eachother as two totally different entities?

if the PAPFC claim themsevles as being est in 1870, then why dont they have all that memorbillia, premiership cups etc at Alberton??

i think both clubs are just as confused as the supporters as to what each one can and cannot claim...

maybe the new CEO can answer the questions?

for what its worth my view is the magpies were est in 1870 and the power in 1997...however my view is probably tarnished as i am a Magpies supporter and an Adelaide Football Club supporter ;)...no one will convince me otherwise, no matter what stationery, letterheads, carparks, clubrooms etc say...

The premiership cups were certainly there and on display earlier this year when I was down there.

Mind you I think there should be a lot more of the club's history on display as it's a looks a little sterile.

I'd be interested to know how the 'Port Club' side of things is going this year as I have heard reports the patronage and takings are well up on previous years.

There is no such thing as the PAPFC, ********! How's the CCFC going down at its shed headquarters?

Also the magpies weren't est 1870, the PAFC was. The "magpies" nickname wasn't used til much later, th "power" nickname came later still but it's still the PAFC. The PAMFC is new and took over the Magpies nickname & jumper. It's really pretty simple, stop making it so hard!

im making it hard??...i know what i think of the situation and ur ranting and raving isnt going to change it!

bucky and bolts hve done a great job brainwashing the masses done there at "QUEEN ST" and thats fine, but no PAPS supporter has convinced me yet (and believe me they hve tried :) ) and they're not likely to either!

No, you are just talking sh*t.

'Power' is the nickname for the PAFC (Port Adelaide Football Club, est. 1870).

The PAFC once fielded a team in the SANFL, and now fields one in the AFL.

If it's still hard for you to understand, we'll take up a collection and send around a tutor.

nice piece of editing f***nut!

like ive said in previous posts, i know what i think and to me thats all i give a ***** about!

the PAFC that i know are the Magpies and they play in the SANFL! IMO (and its my opinion not yours or anyone elses) nothing has changed except the AFL have a new "expanded" version (or bastard child) of the PAFC which i couldnt give too hoots about!:)

You're entitle to your opinion. Whether you feel the PAMFC or PAFC has the 'feel' of Port pre-1997 is upto you. HOWEVER fact is another matter. Legally and factually the PAFC established in 1870 is now fielding a team (Power) in the AFL and the PAMFC is the new club. What you feel about that is your choice and I don't expect you to change your opinion, just stop ignoring the facts whilst you hold them!

Tyson..you are entitled to your opinion...but that is what it is...

You saw your club admitted to the AFL...then a SANFL PAMFC was formed to replace it by the SANFL..you went to the footy one day ..In your mind Port were the Magpies..the next day the SANFL told you the newly formed PAMFC was still the PAFC..you kept on believing it..

Up to you...well done so be it...in your mind...

However stop trying to inform the world..that your opinion is fact and the current PAMFC, wearing your old clubs uniform is still the PAFC...because it isnt..

in 1984 Macx Basheer announced the PAFC had been awarded the next AFL licence, Not the PAMFC, but the PAFC..as of the 1997 season our wonderful PAFC had abicated from the SANFL and was now playing in the AFL...

The SANFL had registered a club called the PAMFC to try and continue the tradition of the PAFC in the SANFL...it is this club that you are now following..Now we all accept you have abandoned Port in favour of Adelaide..but cut it with the trying to justify it that its because you still follow your old club in the SANFL...it dont exist anymore and we know what your choices are...

I dont hold it against you ...good luck to you and your Crows. But Port Adelaide ( formerly the Magpies) no longer play in the SANFL...the new PAMFC do...

accept it rationalise it...and move on
,
The PAFC 34 SANFL premierships then moved to the AFL then renamed the Power..

C'mon Tyson, you've been a useful and welcome contributor to this Board, don't stuff it up over a petty piece of point scoring. The PAFC is the PAFC, spare us the pap-crap okay? Respect the posters. Anyway, we all know the crows are the real bastard child of the PAFC ... ;)
