Hi All,
I thought I'd share my latest project, a racing car simulator. I built it mainly to play GT5 when it comes out but have put in a few laps on Prologue and F1 on the PS3
I'm not sure if anyone is interested so I won't go into details unless anyone cares but I'll attach a few pics.
I've also built a 4 person arcade/mame machine a few years ago.

Probably something to do with drink driving

Unless Omit is one of the "1-2 of Every 100 Gamers Cant Tell Fantasy from Reality" Atkinson is blabbering about, he would be able to tell the difference between real driving and a video game.

drink driving, mixing liquid and electronics and it sets a horrible example for all the children who read this forum

you heathens will be thanking me when you're not burning in hell

Wow, you made that?

Yep. It's actually quite easy if you have the right tools. Get yourself some MDF (2 sheets), longer rectangular solid wood screws and bolts. Paint it up and you're good to go
Oh, and a racing bucket seat (ebay special :thumbsu: ), and the steering wheel setup

The thing I'm really glad about attaching though is the Buttkicker. That's what is mounted under the seat and you hook it up to your sound system and it vibrates from the bass. So when you go over ripple strips, rev the car etc it shakes the whole seat

Only took about 2 days soild.
You only need a drill and jigsaw really. I also used a socket set, spirit level (good as a straight edge as well) and hole drill bits and the drill bits that kinda route (right word??) a hole or partial hole (don't know the name obviously). Don't forget paint brushes/roller for painting either
Needless to say you also need a tape measure and pencil

Awesome setup, good to see you've worked the beer holder into your design. :)

That was a very necessary addition :D.

You get thirsty driving for so long and you need somewhere to put your drink

Probably something to do with drink driving or liquids around electronics..

I was thinking of just getting a wheel stand pro and a G27 for when GT5 comes out.

I looked at those but wanted something more enclosed. I also needed something for me to do on the holidays.

The G27 is meant to be a better wheel but is extra $$'s and I wanted the manual shifter as well

Basically though I think I'll have to stop making things because my missus isn't really for it and if I couple it with my arcade machine they'll take up a whole room themselves

Thanks nanna. How many millivolts would be running through a steering wheel? Might be enough to give you a tiny tingle in your fingertips if you spilt your brew.

Whole setup is rad mate, this is what man can achieve when he has a dream. Maybe you could work an engel fridge into it somehow for those endurance races

I think i may have worked out how to get your missus onside, pm for details :D

The beer holder is the most impressive part of the design :thumbsu:

Excellent work Hawkers!

OH NO WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN

Early contender for worst post of 2010
