My random post match thoughts

(1) That was some great defense in the attacking end of the field. Hawthorn continually struaggled to get clear.

(2) Best game I've seen Dale Thomas play for some time.

(3) The amount of space created at times was outrageous.

(4) Could have won by 100

(5) The tackling was some of the best I've seen in Aussie Rules

(6) Did I mention the great defense?

Very good performance after last week. Need to repeat that dose too next week.

He kicked 4 goals and had about 20 disposals against Sydney at the Olympic ground 2 years ago (I think), but you could argue tonight was better then that.

Apart from that, I can't find a standout comparison.

Harry O is simply a general of the backline, and he's SO versatile. He did the job on Rioli tonight but could have taken Buddy I suppose, had our nemesis been playing.

I think last night was his best, even though that game against Sydney was great. He could have kicked 5 goals last night if he kicked the ball a bit harder, so it wasn't touched on the goal line, and if he didn't take a small step over the boundary line later on.

3 goals is the second highest amount of goals he has kicked in a game, that Sydney game being the most, and he also got a career high 26 disposals.

He has improved so much this year, and it has been great to watch!

Excited! Thomas has been teasing for a long time... I hope this is the year where he averages 24+ touches a game and 2 goals... Would shut up all those Dale Thomas haters!

One of my random thoughts last night was on our intensity.

We play a style of footy that works best when at full intensity with hard tackling and lots and lots of pressure. This came off against the Dogs, Hawks and to an extent the Saints as we had their measure early. Against lesser teams like Melbourne though we don't apply the same pressure and this means that these teams get closer than they should.

Thomas was fantastic. Looking increasingly likely this will be his break out year.

Thomas, Pendlebury, Beams, Sidebottom. What a future midfield we have!
