Whitnall could play a bit despite being a fat campaigner.Lol he was saying gov looks like he could turn into a fat campaigner very quickly if he stopped training for a bit.
But on topic whitnall played a bit at both ends

his elite kicking means half back he is better utilisedMcGovern's kicking is very underated....
Given we have shep and Hurn coming off the backline we have elite kicks back there not to mention good kicks in Nelson and Wellers. Even eMac and Schofield are good kicks (in that they kick to their limits), so not as essential to have him in the back half.his elite kicking means half back he is better utilised
As Simpson would say, "maybe by you but he is not underated at our club"McGovern's kicking is very underated....
100% yes and he'll have an extra year or more in him.does anyone rekon mackenzie will get back to his best?
Disagree on eMac and Schofield being good kicks. Schofield is technically a better kick but makes poor decisions which leads to problems. Schofield was responsible for 2 turnovers on Sunday due to poor kicking/decision making.Given we have shep and Hurn coming off the backline we have elite kicks back there not to mention good kicks in Nelson and Wellers. emacs an ok kick. he tries to pull off extremely hard kicks too often and some occasions does go with his left and shanks it. just needs to kick within his limits.Disagree on eMac and Schofield being good kicks. Schoey had a 88.9% DE from 7 kicks and 2 handballs. EMac had 100% DE from 10 kicks, 5 handballs.Disagree on eMac and Schofield being good kicks. It retains possession and quite often a hole opens up in the corridor with a player running into an open space . Possession of the ball very important rather than kick to a contest.Dunno if this has been spoken about in here but I noticed both teams doing the double switch out of the backline, wont be long and we'll be seeing the triple switch. I swear the AFL needs to introduce a rule that if you go backwards its play on in your back half to stop this boring sideways and backwards movement.
I understand what it does, I'm complaining about it looking like circle work. Defenders have to decide if they are going to run 90 degrees across the oval to defend or stay in the middle and wait for the reverse. It will be easy to defeat, if you see a block down one side and the defender runs over to that side then its definitely going to get reversed back. I don't like it so defend it how ever you want your not changing my mind.It retains possession and quite often a hole opens up in the corridor with a player running into an open space . I'm pretty sure any team would be happy with that kind of efficiency from their key backs - especially EMac in his first game back. I also don't remember the turnovers from Schoey, when in the game were they? I remember thinking he was really good with his disposals in the first quarter so must have forgotten the ones you are talking about. In NAB 2 I thought he was terrible btw (but put it down to him just being rusty).
I don't have a problem with the switch when it is done quickly and effectively. But I hate seeing teams, including us, consider it as their first and only option every time we get the ball in the defensive 50. Because what happens against the better teams is they learn that you switch every time, and block it off, then you go back the other way, and get in to all sorts of strife or you end up having to bomb it long and lose possession. We have some pretty good marks and runners in our team so I wish we'd look first at the centre corridor especially if we have Gov or Darling or Yeo slotting in there, and if that's too risky then go the switch. The important thing I think is mixing it up and be willing to go coast to coast occasionally to keep the opposition guessing. I thought we had the balance pretty good on the weekend but it was against Essendon so hard to tell.It retains possession and quite often a hole opens up in the corridor with a player running into an open space . Possession of the ball very important rather than kick to a contest.
??? I was responding to someone talking about their kicking in NAB3. Not cherry picking, just saying the stats for both were good in NAB3 and not bad as they said in their post.Mate, thats a bit of a cherry picking of games there. It wasnt Emacs first game back, and he has been known for turning the ball over quite regularly by foot during his career, however, he was good on sunday, and i hope that he continues to work on it because if anything is going to undo the Weagles Web or whatever we're doing this year, its a backman that cant hit targets.
No problems with eMac on Sunday - comment more about him being slightly below average.Schoey had a 88.9% DE from 7 kicks and 2 handballs. EMac had 100% DE from 10 kicks, 5 handballs.
