So.. how do i have to watch this thing, do i have to sign up or what?

I had an AFL live membership from last year which cost me like 90 bucks.. same again this year or?
If you use the code NAB2016 when you sign up you get the whole nab cup for free so just cancel it when it's finished and you won't have to pay

Got to love a business model based purely on consumers forgetting they had a subscription that they needed to cancel. Chose the credit card because there is no way in heck I'd ever notice it added to my Telstra bill each month. Predicting I'll notice it about a month in to regular season, will cancel it, but later decide I need to watch one game whilst travelling and outlay another $90, thinking I'll use it more than once and want to avoid forgetting to cancel again. So that works out to about $110 for 3 NAB games and one regular season away game. Still cheaper than the Foxtel subscription I'd binge use for a week and then realise it is as worthless as free-to-air and what I actually need is a US Netflix subscription instead. Australia... screwing its residents with overpriced third world services to boost the profits of international tech companies that pay no tax.

I think it's great.

$50 a month for Foxtel basic, where you can only watch their schedule, vs $90 a year and you can watch the replays whenever you like (12 hours after the game has finished). And still can watch FTA anyway.

Getting the season pass is much better than paying each month. I dint realise till december last year that i was getting billed for october and novemeber, when the footy wasnt even on. I also have a cricket australia subscription and they do the exact same thing.

The 12 hour thing is a bit of a killer (for the impatient obsessive). Especially after a good win

I used flash downloader to download full copies of the game to re-watch on the TV in quite reasonable quality.

However when you have been at a game live and want to watch the replay - it couldn't be done until the next day.

You have to watch it on a portable device though (phone or tablet), so it's hardly comparable to Foxtel.

You can't use apple tv or other systems to run it through a larger tv or monitor (at least not without knowing how to get around the protection).

I am tossing up whether to pay for the year, given i'm not in Perth and they don't show many of our games on FTA here. Def not getting Foxtel so that's not an option. And the pirate streaming websites that i'm aware of are all pretty shit with regard to video quality.

If only i had a giant tablet (pinger obv)

Yeah it can be. But I do like the freedom of choosing which quarter to watch. Most of the Saturday night games at Subi, I don't get home til 10ish after traffic and travelling home so I don't mind too much waiting until the next morning.

I actually like the freedom of the tablet - not to mention it being in HD also instead of campaignery Fox trying to make you pay extra for HD channels.

Also pluses of the tablet include being able to watch whatever is on FTA and have the tablet going too. As well as having the tv free for the rest of the family and I can watch footy on the couch on the tablet whilst they watch whatever they want on TV, or lying in bed to watch a quarter, or in the kitchen whilst cooking, or on the shitter, or at my desk at work etc.

It's fine on a normal size tablet, it's only like 10 inches from your face most of the time, not ideal like a big screen TV but still pretty good in proper HD.

Yeah the portability is good, but I only have a phone - no tab. Hence it would be awesome if I could run it on my laptop

Ahhh right.

If you're one of those nerd types with a VPN you could make it work that way, as the overseas AFL Live subscription allows for PC viewing.

I just bought a new laptop. Asus TP500la. 15.6" full hd screen, 360 degree hinge so it's my work laptop and then at home or wherever else you flip the screen over and it's a big touch screen tablet (best touch screen i've seen on a lappy). My dumb ****ing mrs let telstra 'upgrade' our package over the phone not realising it locked us into an extended contract (she is now banned from any such things) so after this year i'll dump the foxtel and just get the AFL live package i think.

Would be interesting to see if AFL live works on that.

Someone was saying in the random BS thread that you can chromecast Livepass to your TV to watch the games? Thats what I was planning to do this season

I can only watch NBLTV on my tablet and I can't use Apple TV to stream it to my TV however I can stream it onto my TV from my Samsung phone using Chromecast. Maybe you can do the same with AFL live. A Chromecast costs around $50 from JB HiFi or other electronics stores.

Wonder if that's an android-only thing. Will investigate!

I've posted a few alternatives a couple of pages back if you don't want to watch it on the live app using your phone or tablet. And chrome cast is only a android thing, but I've heard that it cuts out a lot. Id imagine if you have a Samsung android tv the connectivity might be a little better.

DanWCE you might find my post helpful too if you have trouble with the chrome cast connectivity.

WTF I just got the afl live pass

Can someone confirm or deny this. I looked it up and the sunday game for wst. Is

It's not that great, works for about 10 minutes and then cuts out, end up having to shut everything off and start it up again.
