i know we at fremantle cant take any competition lightly, that being said, what do we as a group see as a successful campaign in this years pre-season comp?
personally i would like to see the following:
1. the blooding of our rookies, i think it is a given that barlow and SOS will get a game being mature age rookies, i would also like to see sibosad and shepherd get their chance, they will have both completed two preseasons and hopefully can crack a game. the rest of the rookies already have AFL experience, so it would be expected that they will play a part unless injured.
2. a good solid game plan, last NAB cup the unveiling of the rolling zone was in effect, come round 5 in the actual season it was a disaster, i hope to see a fast, hard game plan, involving clean ball movement and accountability. we ended 09 with this plan, hopefully an evolved version of this will be in effect.
3. young guns fit and in form, im takling about palmer and mayne, these two are our future guns, they were ravaged by injury last year, hopefully we will see them fit, healthy and hungry. hopefully a player like roberton who has from all reports been awesome so far can crack a gig as well. obviously hilly, suban et al can show their stuff early on as well which is always exciting
4. a win away from subi, our first match is against melbourne at subi, i see absolutely no reason as to why we should not win this match. melbourne are young and have not experienced success. nothing is a given for us, however if we win this, we will play away in week 2, if we can begin a winning away culture it will give us confidence into the season proper. it is just so so important that we start to win away. if we can get some good away form, we may even push for top 8 in home and away season
all that being said i hope we can look towards the NAB cup semi's, from there who knows. if we can stay away from the regional grounds then that can only help us
