Do you guys think we should be resting so many players this week? Judd, Murph and stevo maybe but not waite, gibbs, houlihan as well, it is gonna be rookies vs grand final calibre team.

I'd rather rest them now and most probably lose this match, than risk them injuring themselves and weaken our side for round 1.

It's a no-brainer for me. We were probably going to lose to Geelong in any event so this is a great opportunity to give our younger players more responsibility and see how they respond against one of the best teams in the league.

They've probably made the right decision. Definitley Judd and Fev had to be rested at least to see how we would fair without them. Totally understand Simmo and Murph's decision. It doesn't provide for any entertainment value even though I'm secretly praying for win, but we get a shot to look at pretty much everyone on our list and that'll make me happy enough.

We put him in one of these......

Are you another one of those so called 'supporters' seeking to undermine Ratts and the MC?

What happens if we win?

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it b4 (it is quite a nice dream after all) :)

The same could have been said about the Hawthorn game on Sunday.

I hear that. However, do we realistically need to plan for having so many of our stars out at once?

We've already seen how we fair without Judd (Rd 14 ;)).

I understand that our pre-season training has been structured so that most players will not play more than 3 pre-season games and that the final round of pre-season has been earmarked as a full dress rehearsal for Rd 1.

But I also see how staggering our stars over the first 3 pre-season rounds could have still achieved this and at the same time provided a more solid on-field structure for our young players to work within as opposed to getting hammered from pillar to post by bigger, better and more experienced opponents.

Having said that, we probably would not have beaten Hawthorn without all of our stars playing, and without the benefit of hindsight the same would have probably been said prior to facing a full-strength North. Personally (admittedly with the benefit of hindsight) I think getting to play the benchmarks of the competition and another relatively consistent finals team who we haven't beaten for many seasons ultimately makes for the best preparation for the first home and away season in many years we come into with an expectation of featuring in September.
