been making these on the weekend a fair bit lately but have been struggling to find the perfect sauce for my nachos, i usually just go with a Dominos pasta sauce but i am looking for a nice alternative for when i want to change it up.

any recommendations would be greatly appreciated :thumbsu:

GD - we tackle the big topics.

Why use pasta sauce and not salsa/nacho sauce?

found it has tasted better.

used the typical salsa which was ok but could be better, tonight used oldelpaso nacho topping and it was :thumbsd::(

I've never had a problem with the usual Salsa one. Just all depends on what flavour you want to get out of your sauce I guess.

i find the selection of cheese a bigger issue. Regular tasty cheese just doesnt say soft long enough and you end up with everything glued together.

Microwave or Oven? I've sworn by the easiness (and laziness) of Microwaved nachos for so long, but on one hectic and filthy drunk new years afternoon, a lady friend of mine opted for the Oven method. Much to my dismay (massive munchies)

they were absolutely perfect. I stopped celebrating new years that night and started celebrating oven nachos instead

I use the Old El Paso stuff, mixed in with some salsa and red kidney beans. Spread over Mexicana Doritos, sprinkle with cheese, chuck in the oven, serve with sour cream and guacamole...soooo good.

CC's chips >> Doritos (for nachos)

I use the Doritos salsa though.

Never heard of anybody using pasta sauce for nachos.

I've found this too. However, if you make the nachos in a large bowl/on a plate and pop it in the oven/under the grill to cook, the plate generally stays hot enough thus keeping the cheese melted longer. Just remember your oven mitts/tea-towel.

Also, I've never been a big fan of salsa on my nachos. But lately I have been adding Nando's Peri-Peri sauce to the avocado/guacamole which tastes surprisingly good.

Mince as in mince meat?

I use it as Parma sauce and also if i wanna marinade a steak with a few extras, works a treat.

Bump.

I haven't had nachos for ages. Might make some. Anyone have any opinions on sauce/corn chip brand/added ingredients etc?

kraft cream cheese heat it up and poor over nachos for the win..

salsa make your own 100 x better than jar shit
tin crushed tomatoes
onion chopped
garlic
capsicum chooped.
chille (to taste)

fry up garlic, onion, capsicum, and chillie, then add tin tomato heat up. salt and pepper to taste.

Guacamole

chille
sour cream
chillie
qtr/half and onion chopped fine.

I use Mission corn chips spread evenly over a baking tray. Cheese, salsa, capsicum, smoked chicken, bacon. Top with sour cream and guacamole.

Good god that sounds good, are you talking the plain mission strips or the triangular cheese ones?

Depends how cheesy you want your nachos. Both options are delicious. The trick is to make sure you get appropriate amounts of toppings on every nacho. It takes me ages to make them.
Can also do the same toppings but on potato skins and add some spring onion (fatty AF don't blame me if you get clogged arteries)
