Here's the idea behind this thread, the poster above you nominates a game played by the Crows (any game since our inception) and you reply with what memories you have from that game. (who played well, win or loss, bad injuries etc) Then you nominate a game and someone replies to that and so forth

Seeing as i was only 8 at the time, i'll go back to our 1st ever official game:

Rnd 1, 1991, Versus the Hawks at Footy Park

Craigys best use of "tempo" football. The Saints killed us in first part of first quarter. We slowed the game down and won.

IIRC the Socceroos qualified for the world cup that night also, and Wolfmother were playing at The Gov.....

Round 4 2001 Adelaide V Carlton (Princess Park)

Round 4 2001 Adelaide V Carlton (Princess Park)

Socceroos qualified on a Wednesday night.

As for Carlton: Roo ripping Whitnall's ear off in the goalsquare, and Big Red missing the shot. Then Roo running through Houlihan. Then Roo kicking 4 (one in each quarter) including the sealer, a snap from the boundary in the wet. Roo picking up 3 Brownlow votes for a 12 touch game. Did anyone else actually play that day? Our first win for the year, as massive underdogs at 0-3, and we went on to play finals.

Round 2 1996, Fitzroy at Princes Park.

Was that the one when Roo kicked a bag including one from the boundary to seal it?
On the Carlton game I also remember the lightning strikes before the game and Roos snap in the pocket in the downpour - not sure if it sealed the game though?

Round 2 1996, Fitzroy at Princes Park - The Jarman brothers reminded their old and the current Fitzroy Mick Nunan what skills they have. They kick between them 13 or 14 goals. Oh yea we won.

Another Fitzroy game - 1991 at Footy Park?

The snap did seal it - I think we were 8 points up late on (after the Blues were gifted a goal with a dubious HTB decision 30 out, against Eccles, from memory) and Roo snapped that pearler. It went down the other end and maybe Lappin snapped an equally good (but less memorable) one. Ricky O'Loughlin had his shot touched off the boot to make the final margin 9 points.

1991 Fitzroy. Jameson goals after the siren to win the game. That's all I know. I was 4 at the time.

Not sure of the date (hoep someone can help me out)

We played Collingwood at Vic park (my first and only venture out to that shithole) and the game was close all day and then if (strong if please correct me otherwise) my memory serves me right they (collywobbles) kicked a goal a few seconds after the siren which was arwaded which gave them the win!!:eek:

i reckon that goal was half time? not the final siren. and yeh that was the turning game of the season for mine.

how about 1992 - Rnd 23
Adelaide 24-25 (169) d Geelong 11-12 (78) Football Park Crowd - 46,450
i was sitting behind the old chicken wire fence at the southern end watching hodges kick about a thousand goals. any other memories from that game?

I was 9 and went with my mum and we sat around a bunch of Crows supporters, but smuggled in between us were 2 female Geelong supporters, who copped it ALL DAY LONG. poor girls were good sports about it though. Great game to be at. Don't remember much else besides Hodges who bought his own ball.

1998 PF versus the Western Bulldogs

A little off topic but one game that always sticks with me is the the game against Essendon at Optus oval in 1997 round 22, just cause that was the day Princess Dianna died and they announced it over the PA system and it was just dead silent.... and we lost the game

Another game that I'll always remember is the one where Carlton wore their shitty Blue jumper (M & M's promo)!!

Was silent

I remember this game.

IIRC the cats were on top and Brownless kicked like 6 or 7 goals but then there was Scott Hodges who bobbed up with the lazy 11 goals

Actually I was sitting behind the goals at the Southern End that game as well hahaha , weird.

I think the crows were on a roll late in 1992. Won 5 in a row leading up to Rd 24 (loss to pies by 5 points at Vic Pk) - that run of good form is what gave them a great start into 1993.

"Gives it his best.....MODRA!" Too young to remember unfortunately.

Round 19, 2001. Adelaide vs Carlton at FP.

Bit of an obscure one but this is sensational for me...I'll add why if no one else can remember this game

Think i was at this game...was it a saturday night?
I remember spanking the blues all over the park, I always felt like we could never beat Carlton, so it was great to give them a lesson in football that night.

Unfortunately they returned the favour in the elimination final just a few weeks later.

Bloody Plunkett!

We smashed them, and Darren Jarman kicked an awesome goal from the north eastern pocket late on.

My mum, who was working in a permit car park outside footy park, got run over by some jerk who wouldn't take no for an answer - had to have a whole lot of knee surgery and was off work for ages.

Very memorable night...

1998 PF versus the Western Bulldogs

i went to this game knowing that my chances of gf tix were next to nothing.
i still have it on VHS somewhere.
brett james pulling that goal out of his.. err.. right boot. nice work dougie hawkins.
mcleod kicking a monstrous bag on libba i think it was.
i remember seeing mcleod in front of me.. looked in agony with his knee... obviously a few jabs helped that cos his form the following week was ok.
oh and i remember the G updating the commonwealth games cricket scores where we were gettin beaten.

rd 17 1996 - vs fitzroy. what was significant in AFL history that day?
They officially merged with Brisbane around then???

Amusing that the AFL were scared of Fitzroy merging with North Melbourne, making North stronger. So allowed them to merge with the Bears, who were near bottom.
