A few boards have this thread so hey what's another one.

Like the other threads, injury riddled players need not be nominated please (something for mods to nut out.)

After being traded from Freo, I thought Adam McPhee was gonna smash it after winning the B&F in 2004.

That never eventuated despite myself hanging on to a glimmer of hope he'd be consistent again.

2013-14, I thought/hoped Jackson Merrett would turn out to be a star/gun/elite player.

His brother's onto bigger and better things.

HM to Ben Howlett.

Your turn.

Willie Dick.
And on a similar tangent, Jason Laycock. Those fragile chicken-like foot bones of his...

Laycock comfortably the worst Don for me.

Wayne Beddison, 10 games in 1983 - could have been anything but missed the farm too much and went home to Dimboola. Not quite Cupido but up there.

Beddison was more talented than Cupido - He was the one who got away.

I reckon Cupido was more talented but lazier. Different types of players though.

Antrobus, Beddison, Plain, and Cupido are definitely up there for me.

Another one who arrived at the club when Antrobus came across was Andrew Underwood whom I thought would be a beast of a player; the original 'Muscles', pre-Marigliani.

Stephen Copping also came over a bit earlier. Managed to kick a few goals, and in finals too but turned out he was a bit one-dimensional.

Wayne Otway was during the same era. Was a very talented small forward/rover but for whatever reason left just before we became successful.

Then there's Raines and Richardson...

Doc Weildon for me, got so excited when we picked this bloke up in the 1995 draft.
Then on the eve of getting picked for his first game he got out on the sauce, got hit my a taxi in king street and never played again.

When we finally took him out of the pocket and put him on the wing and he had around 3 ~30 disposal games I thought he was going to come good to :(

That just tells me that players should play in the position they were well versed at pre-draft.

Ben Howlett strikes me as an odd nomination for this.

I would have thought it was always reasonably obvious that he is hard working rather than prodigiously talented type, and with that in mind his career hardly strikes me as being disappointing.

His first season really impressed me.

Thought he was gonna go on from there.
