What a load of ******** and in my absence I can't beleive the ******** that normally sensible Geelong posters (admitdly I am not one) are spinning!!!! I bet none of you have seen him play. You're a punch of tossers for pumping him up like he is. How can people say he will be the solution to our forward problems in late 2005/ 2006???

Most key forwards don't have much impact in their first two years and let alone one who has been playing for Modewarre. Modewarre U18s get flogged by 30 goals playing against teams like Geelong Amateurs, Drysdale, Ocean Grove and Torquay (other teams in their league). To suggest that Nathan Ablett is ready for senior football is a joke. Yes he may have made his senior debut for Modewarre but they are hardly a powerhouse club that often get whipped by the clubs I mentioned before. As someone who knows people at Geelong Amateurs (a local club in their league) a 20 goal victory is desired playing Modewarre and I think that shows has poor a club they are.

Lay offf the poor kid. IMO he is David Bourke till he does something. :D

This Nathan Ablett is going to be a complete failure. He doesnt even want to play AFL football. The only reason he joined is because Geelong have been hounding him for years and years about playing AFL. He doesnt care nor does he want to be an AFL footballer and he is not going to have even close to the dedication and committment required to become one.

I mean look at the look on his face when he is holding that Geelong jumper up in the only photo of him on the planet. It looks like he has Elmer Fudd standing behind him with a shotgun making him do it.... and the fact he won't even have a photo taken of him.... This guy is a complete freak and I dont mean his football skills.

I actually agree more with TP here than I do with Geelong fans. He has to have the commitment which is something that seriously must be doubted!

Thats what I'd rather do I'd rather say he is ******** so there is no unrealistic expectation on him like has been mentioned by alot of Cats fans.

What makes you think Nathan Ablett can even do that? He has played 5 or 6 games of senior footy in the BFL. No TAC Cup games, no state games - most of these players have played these competions.

Tom Lonergan impressed for Victoria yet has debuted in two seasons but will likely next season. What makes you think Nathan can do that? He is very raw.

The difference is Tom Lonergan would never have been drafted if he came in with Nathan's bio. Nathan does have some natural skill and physical advantages on his side

How do you know that? Or are you just listening to others who havent seen him play and repeating their dribble? No one would have got drafted in Nathan's state except an Ablett in a pi$$ poor draft.

Does our coach lack credibility? These are some of the quotes from Bomber (on gfc.com.au) I've based my opinion on:

“It’s not imperative to have come through traditional under-18 pathway to be a player. We have the likes of Andrew Mackie, Jarad Rooke, Matthew McCarthy and Corey Enright that played most or all of their junior careers outside the under-18 competitions.

“Nathan has talent and ability and we believe with the coaching that we will give him he will develop in time into a good player for us.”

and yes he is very raw, as Bomber says:

“Any expectation that Nathan will come into the team quickly are unreasonable and unfair to both Nathan and the club, and we hope that everybody understands this.

Yes of course Bomber has to say that - I dont know if anyone has ever said a player they recruited is bad. I dont say he is bad - I say people say stupid things - like he will be a gun etc!!! Just let him play he has a long way to go!!

Mate get your facts right before you post crap like this. Modewarre actually finished 4th on the ladder in the under 18's ahead of the Geelong Amateurs. They went on to beat the amateurs by 1 point in the elimination final. The next week they lost to eventual grand finalists Ocean Grove by 4 points. Throughout the year they defeated Drysdale who finished 3rd by 70 points and the amateurs by 20 points, while losing games to grand finalists Ocean Grove and Torquay by under a goal. Their biggest loss for the year was 40 points which is clearly no where near these 30 goal losses you speak of. Not bad for a side with a population about a 10th of that of the other sides.

You are being quite hypocritical bagging people who are pumping him up who havent seen him play, when you are putting him down by making up lies. For one I barrack for Geelong and have played against Ablett for the last 5 years and mark my words mate I believe he will be something special

What about the season before last? And didn't Nathan play seniors this year?????

Hardly a successful team.

I actually HATE you. You make places like this unbearable to come visit, and tarnish every opposition club's view of normal GFC people the same way Suzi does with Hawthorn.

Im allowed an opininon on a player who everyone over rates. How can you say someone who has played 5-6 BFL games will be a superstar. Just let him be and let him play without these Nick Reiwoldt comparisions I have have saw on this site.
