Nathan Brown (Nafan)

All the players had been asked to take pay cuts, not just Browny. I was angry at the time, but came to understand it later, when I heard his family had been very poor, he lived in a caravan growing up, has anyone else heard this? I also heard his mother was a one eyed dog supporter.
Browny was asked to take a decent cut in the years immediately after his best seasons, most people would leave under those circumstances.

Genuinely thought he was named after the MCG with the
"G" in his name, put the fig in figjam.
I enjoyed Rex Hunt calling his goals B R O W N Brown he used to scream out after each goal . Loved it . So did Rex . Don't think he goes back to the club at all which is a shame but they may say about his character or was he hard done by?

Cheers for the replies everyone, really enjoying reading through them, in terms of player comparisons who from the present day players would most play like Browny in his prime. I'm gathering he had a bit of flair similar to a Wingard type? a bit of edge of your seat viewing when he had the ball inside 50 alla Stringer? Was he similar to Isaac Heeney or a bigger bodied, stronger marking Fantasia? (I could very well be completely wrong here mind you) I read earlier he is in ways similiar to Jack Billings, from the vision I've seen this seems pretty right

Wingard is a good comparison.

We may have possibly won a flag with him had he stayed. He would have been INVALUABLE in eade's team.

My blood still boils about his first interview in the herald sun. They had a picture of him at punt road standing in front of advertising signs saying 'dirty dog'.

He said something along those lines a couple of years ago (on Trade Radio, I think).

Stated that he often thought that, had he stayed, he may have been able to contribute enough to get us into a GF, even maybe win one. No arrogance in his voice, rather just a little bit of, "what if?".

However, he did polarise people. One of his junior coaches once doubted that any club would be willing to risk him, given his quirky, sometimes, contrary nature. He pretty much said that the knock on his attitude was bigger than his considerable abilities.

I can't help but feel he would have got us to the holy grail a lot sooner. He was one of the most talented players I've seen in a dogs jumper. His form was GAJ like the year he broke his leg.
My grudge is still there for him leaving though.

Absolute gun. And enjoyed frequenting Jimmy Rowe's and Cactus Club on a Thursday night back in the day. As most of us did

Kicked 7 from a wing one day. Gun.

Was that the day he showed the ball to the Cats players as he kicked his seventh, which then seemed to fire them up, and we ended up getting rolled from what should have been a winning position? :D.............................................................................................................

Classy and smart. Mark down a goal as soon as he got it inside 50 and any angle was possible. For a slightly built player it didnt take him long to start playing well. A better version of Wingard is a good call.

So good to watch
