What do you guys think of drafting Nathan Brown with pick 19? He was all australian fullback and looks like he will definately have the size to play on the really big guys on the AFL which is something we desperately need. Someone on this board also said that he was a carlton supporter. I don't know if this is true but if it is this would be a great plus as you can't train passion for the jumper.

Not sure if this Nathan Brown is a Carlton fan but I do know the Nathan Brown running around for the Tigers was a HUGE Blues fan!!! :D

i read in the herald sun that brown was a carlton supporter, would love to pick him up he's a 194cm all australian full back, would be a very handy pick up.

I'm sure he'd be one of many we'd be considering.

The way I see it our PP and second round picks will be used one of 2 ways.

1. Pick 17 - Midfielder
Pick 19 - Midfielder

2. Pick 17 - Midfielder
Pick 19 - Renouf/Brown

If we are lucky though one of Renouf or Brown might slip to the third round.

I think Brown would be a great pick up, but he may not be available:( A lot of teams are looking for some big bodies down back.

I wouldn't be surprised if we used both picks 17 and 19 on the best available defenders and or ruckman:thumbsu:. Which makes sense if our first pick is a mid considering our needs. Second round picks on backs and rucks are an acceptable risk.

The dilema there Murph is that, IMO, using pick 19 is paying over the odds for both Renouf and Brown, and I would doubt either of them would be available at pick #35. Therefore, we would need to orchestrate a trade whereby we get another pick in the 20's, where I believe both of these guys will be picked up.

Yeah if it was up to me I would just pick best available with these picks but I'm not sure if the club will alocate one of them to needs. At this point it looks like the best available players at this stage of the draft will be mids. I'm hoping that we may get any combination of Petterd, Hislop, Conors, O,Brien and Schmit. I also love Collard but I think he is a certainty to be picked up by a WA team. I also wouldn't mind Houli.

Houli's form has certainly been pretty good post championships and i'm sure he would be considered. Collard, Connors and O'Brien will be gone by the time pick 17 comes around IMO.

I disagree:) I think Renouf especially is worth a punt at 19. He is a quality kid with a brain used to playing against men.
In other years he would probably be a top ten. If we do pick a mid at 17, why another one at 19?
Unless something incredible happens I can't see the mids still available being miles ahead of Renouf:) What is the huge difference in such an even draft between taking someone at 19 and at somewhere in the early to mid twenties:D

Don't you mean Renouf? Michael Malouf is Carltons CEO.
