people call for players to be cut because they are crap and a waste of space, then when it finally happens everyone goes soft.

Oh I really liked him as a player, it's a pity it didn't work out so on and so on

Why can we not say, thanks for nothing see cya later
Well said mate, its a professional game and if you're not up to it, you are not up to it. No need to sugar coat anything.
No it wasn't well said.

Can't either of you see the difference between calling for a player to be cut from the list and wishing him well as a person? In what universe is that contradictory?

But you're right about one thing: It is a professional game. One that he has now retired from.

I do wish him well with life after football as I would any player, but in terms of footy as I said, don't let the door hit you on the way out

Show some class Staphy. Maybe he was not up to it but what purpose does it serve to slag him off other than for you to sound like a keyboard hero. He represented the club very honestly and deserves better than some smart ass send off.

Well, that's just our culture at the Dogs. That's why we are everyone's 2nd team.

Clubs with ruthless cultures win premierships

That has nothing to do with it. It is about treating people with respect in general. Anyways, just my view and it is no more valid than yours so all good.

Wasn't good enough, not an attack on him as a person as I'm sure he's a nice guy. But Cy@ later

Too much effort to quote all of you but if you really think my comments re: Skinner are "lifetime ban" worthy then please enforce it.

As for DJ, I wish him the best for his future but I'm certain if he didn't retire he would've been retained and been a list clogger. That's why I'm happy he's gone. He tried hard but he wasn't up to it.

For those that think being tough and ruthless means being rude, disrespectful and racist you had better think again. DJ is not longer a player with us, he is a human being that was doing what he loved doing and has decided to call it a day, he must be feeling a lot of mixed emotions in terms of was it all worth it, what will he do now, the end of his dream to play football etc. To have made it to the highest level of all is a huge achievement, no doubt more than you keyboard heroes could ever muster.

Being tough and ruthless means you get out there and support our kids when we are down the bottom knowing we are going to lose - put your money where you mouth are and support our kids it will make a different to them and to us.

He played more games AFL games than most of us on here! So he can keep his head held high!

Wish him all the best with future endeavours!

That's complete shit, its one thing to want a player delisted or to not think he's good enough, that's fine. It's another thing to be nasty and pathetic about it when it does happen. Acting like you have when a guy retires doesn't win Premierships and its laughable to say you're being "ruthless." You're not being ruthless, you're being a dick.

It wasn't like DJ didn't make it because he was soft or a lack of effort, he gave his all just wasn't quite up to it

So the key to winning premierships is slagging off players on the way out the door

I have nothing but admiration for the way you conducted yourself Nathan and I know that you gave it your all during your AFL career. You should be proud to have represented the club, your family and your community in the manner that you have. I respect your decision to move back home and I wish you well.

If you ever read these contributions on BigFooty, please remember that a couple of morons don't represent the views of the rest of the Bulldogs supporters. The vast majority loved the way you went about it and will always think well of you. Thanks DJ.

Hear hear!

Easty needs to lose his right to post here after those comments. Pathetic and utterly disgusting.

As I said, if the mods see it that way I'll cop my whack on the chin.

FWIW I am a fan of Skinner and think he does offer us something but being multi-cultural within the AFL is becoming increasingly important and can be used as a marketing tool as well and I do believe it is a factor when it comes to list retention.

I think it's been a factor in Majak Daw's career as well... political correctness contradicts itself sometimes.

No, it's about saying cya later you were shit. Not sugar coat it, you know what DJ you are a good player you just don't fit in our plans right now.

How is cya later your shit , slagging off a player. When it's fact.

The day Gia retires is going to be a classic, most people on this forum would love to see the back of him. But posts will go along these lines .
Fantastic player for our club
Really love the way he went about it
One of the club greats
If we could only had 18 Gia's
blah blah blah blah.

Staphy, nobody has said that Djerrkura should still be on the list, or was a good player, or was part of our plans for next year. People are simply thankful that he gave it his best effort and are wishing him the best in whatever he moves onto after football.

I'm in the minority here but I did think he was good. Just needed continuity. The kind that he never got because he kept getting injured.

That being said, he isn't irreplaceable, but the team could definitely use more players with his attitude. Always went in 100%.
